Hi.

Know you guys have a lot to do for Fallout online and your other projects, but could it be possible that you could bring out a copy from M.A.X. 1 for the Iphone 4? A friend that has the the iphone 4 jailbreaked it. He installed M.A.X 1 and played it on his Iphone. Don't know how he did it. So, i went to the App Store to see if there is a stratagie game that i could get for my Iphone that could reach up to M.A.X. 1. Thier isn't. So please give me M.A.X. 1 for my Iphone. Don't want to jailbreak my handy.

Your request as been noted!

I'd love a copy of M.A.X.1 for my iPad, personally. Not M.A.X.2 and I worked on that one. ^_^

Chris, I'd like to ask the same question as with Fallout again: Do you still have the full source-code and all required make and data files for M.A.X.?

Porting the game to iOS is something I could eventually talk my boss into - remaking not :)

Thx Chris, I'll be waiting patiently. :D

@ Cybergoth,
maybe this helps.

I asked about the same question on the M.A.X. thread:

Does gamesas still have the rights for M.A.X. 1 -2 and if you do, will there be the chance that M.A.X. 3
will be developed? :?:
Like bigger maps, better Multiplayer, new story (with videos like C&C but more seriuos/ realistic like in World in conflict), DirectX 9 or 10 effects and the great sound from M.A.X. 2 ? :D

Chris answered:

We have retained the rights to M.A.X., so, in theory, there is a chance we could do a sequel. At this time, I wouldn't wait outside your local game store... But, hopefully, someday we'll do one. I really enjoyed the first game, and I was thankful for my opportunity to work on M.A.X.2, even if I was disappointed about how that project turn out.

pax,
-Chris

I'm fairly certain that the source-code, make and data files for MAX are not available. They were backed up on some tape device and stored in some box (that has probably been moved to the Arctic or something). And then lost.

Oh, rats! :|

That's too bad. I fear for plain emulation are the controls way too complex and remaking the whole game for the iPhone could cost as much as developing M.A.X. 3 for it from scratch.

Is there actually *any* complete source code for a game left you still have access to at gamesas?

Meanwhile we started toying some with the Freespace 2 source code, thank heavens at least that one is still around. It already has OpenGL drivers, so it shouldn't be totally impossible to make it run with the iPhones OpenGL ES 2.0 instead.

That's a good question. I don't know. There was a programmer hired (last year, year before that?) to go through all the back ups to try and restore old game projects. I'm not sure what the result was of that archeological code dig.

Many projects have been lost to time, improper backups or backups that have failed, and missing equipment. Lots of equipment wasn't stored properly and failed due to external conditions or something. svcks.

Wow! Doing that would be my absolute dream job! :D

I totally love this kind of stuff. When I was still running the Epyx Shrine I had some programmer submitting the source codes for two of their Apple games.

Some time ago even some original Atari 2600 source code was discovered: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/144322-source-code-pole-position/

If you still have any ancient gamesas data/code you want to have anolyzed I can offer to do that for you in my spare time. If you can extract the files and provide them via FTP that is. I'm good with software, but not with ancient pc hardware / backup media ;)

Just so you see that I'm not talking nonsense, I've e.g. written 5 complete Atari 2600 games (and contributed to a dozen others) in the past. Here's my Mobygames Rap-Sheet:

My latest released project was converting Ed Fries "Halo 2600" to PAL:
