I'm looking for an effective and aesthetically appealing outfit with the Ebony Mail as my armor. Any suggestions?

Considering Ebony Mail has the same graphic as regular Ebony Armor, I just wear normal Ebony Boots and Ebony Gauntlets with it. Oh, and I have an Ebony Helmet in my bag for when I feel like wearing a helmet (almost never).

Yep and Shield of Ysgrammor (sp?) and Mask of Clavicus Vile go great with ebony too.

Doesn't not wearing a helmet dramatically reduce your armor rating? I believe the +25% to full heavy armor requires you wear every piece to get bonus

Sadly, which I consider a cripple to characters who play as beast races and don't want their faces to magically be humanoid shaped.

Here's a crazy idea: Ebony armor.

I should have mentioned that I am trying to stay away from a full suit of heavy armor, so ebony isn't ideal. Light has been my specialization so far but I'm an assassin so armor isn't critical. I am wearing a Dark Brotherhood black hood but the red on the rest of the armor doesn't look great with the blue on the Ebony Mail.

Oh, well if that's your problem, then probably the rest with Nightengale pieces (hands, feet, maybe head if you think it looks better than the DB hoods

Yeah, it reduces your armor rating not to wear a helmet, but I just don't like wearing a helmet. It's in my bag in case I find myself taking too much damage, but that doesn't happen very often. More often I wear a silver circlet (Silver Moonstone Circlet I think? I'm not really sure, since I renamed it to Ebon Circlet so it'll be in inventory next to the armor) that matches my ebony armor nicely but doesn't hide my head.

Edited to add: Yeah, the Nightingale set pieces would go nicely with the Ebony Mail.

I loved all the Ebony stuff, mail, armor, boots, helmet, bow and arrows . . . until I was given the Nightingale stuff. Ebony is cool but a tad too fancy with all the silver design accents. Yes, it's great armor and weapons, but so is Nightingales, and they are nice and dark without the flashy silver.

Then I found and improved the Daedric Bow Of The Inferno to Flawless. Combine it with Daedric Arrows and oh yeah baby, all my prey gets barbecued.

I like the Helm of X, from a tomb just east of Windhelm. I can't remember its name but it is a black open faced helmet with fab Horns sticking out the top.

I think it goes excellently with Ebony plate (I use it on Lydia), but I do not know for sure if it would fit the less bulky appearance of the mail as I haven't done Boethiah's quest on any char yet.

Yeah, I found that a while back but I don't like the idea of making all helmets invisible, which is what that does. I just want MY helmet invisible, and still be able to see them on other people (and possibly the ability to toggle the visibility... Oh well, helmet in the favorites menu is better than nothing right now).
