Apparently a chickens life is worth more than a persons.

Serves you right, OP. Why would you assault a defenseless chicken? D:

Assault is assault. In what universe do you imagine someone not caring if you walked up and attacked their pet or farm animal? Violence is often used to resolve disputes in Skyrim, so it's no surprise that you would be attacked for such a vile act. If the guards don't recognize your attempt to yield, leave the city and come back. You'll likely be given the opportunity to pay your fine and be done with it.

Skyrim is a game with consequences. Attack things "out of amusemant" and you'll likely provoke a response in kind.

Killing a chicken (5g bounty) should not result in every living being in the entire hold seeking to cut me to pieces without chance for repentance. You do not need to explain that actions have consequences, that would be as informative as telling me that the sky is blue on a clear summer day.

Exactly what I was trying to get at... I loved doing that though. Until like 20 chickens start swarming you like locusts! XD

I have to say I only got this far on the OP 'So I assaulted a chicken ' and I couldn't stop laughing. I know what he meant but that's not what my brain received. Kidding aside, is a chicken's life worth more than a persons? Depends on how the chicken is prepared...

Of course I know all that. But a mere CHICKEN? I'd understand it if he wanted to punch me in the noggin or give me a hefty fine, but taking my LIFE? Over a CHICKEN?

Wow the hilarious reponse on this thread is great. There's nothing helpful yet though I think I'll just avoid the Rift.

Same here. I killed a chicken in Riverwood and I was shocked that the guards tried to attack me and I had to pay a fine. After that I used "Raise Zombie" on the chicken then the old lady said "Foul magic".
