Apparently it really is 200 years

Yeah I checked too. It never directly says it, but the possibility exists within the universe so that's the conclusion you're left to make. It's just a little odd they chose it with an orc, since wtf their lifespans are exceedingly short, so you'd think the college would....yknow, revere him a little more for managing to pull it off?

Wait, did I just stumble into the 'Elder Scrolls Lore' section by accident? Coulda sworn this was about Fallout, a completely different franchise. ;)

I think there's a difference between when the game's quest ended in-canon versus how long it took the player to finish it. In my FO3 file, it reads November 2277, but they might have it stated that Project Purity was up and running by October 2277.

You did see the alien images in the concept art right? :bonk:

EDIT: back on topic - those aliens look like they were drawn at least 200 years after the great war.

Have not looked into it much. Watched what they showed at E3, checked out a couple images, and anticipating more news or waiting just for the game :). However, if they do aliens again, leave it at Easter eggs eh?

I think this will probably end up being something of an extension to MZ, but will more than likely be played out as an in game side-quest rather than DLC. If the timeline is actually some time after Fallout 3 and NV, then this could actually be quite interesting in terms of 'what happens next', and could even involve a few cameo appearances from both of the previous games.

It would actually be really cool if they wanted your help getting things to fix a ship for them, pleading for our help. Than (if we choose to help), on completion of the quest, your characters wakes up in a daze at the start location, wondering if it was a dream. An alien blaster could than be found near you, making your character wonder if it really was real. To keep it as a quest and a mystery

Orcs are not naturally short lived.

They live as long as any of the races of men do. They simply tend to die sooner by going out in some glorious battle before they get too old that they become pshyically useless.

I suspect they will simply pull another "exploding alien craft" random encounter like they did in Fallout 3 to give you something like the Firelance.

A questline like that seems far too developed for what is supposed to be a joke.

If it is the Midwestern Brotherhood in this game, that raises questions about why they were losing to the Legion in the West when they are strong enough to be in Boston, while still maintaining a presence in the Midwest. If Pete really isn't misdirecting us, then the only other options they could be, if not the Midwestern Brotherhood, are,

They are an offshoot of the group that went East in the 2100's
They are an offshoot of the group that went East in the 2200's
They broke off of the Midwestern faction and went East at some point.

If Pete is misdirecting us, which I wouldn't rule out, then it's possible they could be the Lyons Brotherhood. No matter what we will see come November.

The MwBoS weren't losing to the Legion in the west, nothing even says they were actively fighting each other.

All that was said was that Caesar found and captured some BoS guys on his eastern border.

Who says they were losing?

We don't even necessarily know if they are at war, much less who's winning.

Dammit.
I was hoping to see more branches of Caravans. Possibly a Caravan vs Caravan scenario.

Here's my thought on this whole "debate"

1. If it really is just 200 years, then having the MW BoS would only make the most sense.

2. If 1. is true, then I would be just slightly disappointed we wouldn't be able to hear about how Project Purity went and anything on the Pitt and Enclave.

1. Don't worry, it isn't just 200 years.

2. See 1.

The Legion Centurions have pieces of Power Armor in their armor. Centurion armor is made up of the armor of their foes that they have killed. Legion territory goes into Colorado, close to the location of Vault 0. Caesar talking about the Brotherhood scribes in the East who don't know their heritage is obviously referring to the Midwestern Brotherhood and if you factor in the Power Armor in the Centurion armor then it's clear they have clashed before. Maybe not actively fighting but they would have at one point.

The Airship is named from Arthurian Lore, it's the name of King Arthur' ship. Regardless of it's origin it's almost certainly being used by the Lyon's BoS.

A very interesting point when you consider the customisable armor already confirmed as being in-game. The possible involvement of the Legion would also suggest some time past 2281.

Which again would suggest Arthur Maxson being at least 18 years old, which would be during 2285.

EDIT: we can actually see somebody looking like an older version of Maxson in the concept art.

I'm hoping if the Lyons Brotherhood is in the game they've become more imperialistic than just a white knight group again.
