Appearance changing?

Is there any way to change your character's appearance in New Vegas? Is there even a place to get a haircut?

I already checked the wiki and I couldn't find anything about it there.

Old World Blues dlc has a feature that alters your appearance, I think. I remember being in The Sink and one of the appliances had a feature to alter my appearance and I was like "Oh, awesome :D ".

I may be wrong, been a long time since I played New Vegas and its dlc.

The Autodoc thing in the sink needs an upgrade I believe. Then it can alter your face.

You can because it is part of the whole head construction interface.

You can get a haircut from some guy whose name is currently escaping me at the Kings HQ. As for changing your appearance, you can do that in Old World Blues once you find the Auto Doc holo tape for it.

What you're looking for is the showplasticsurgeonmenu console command, a quick save before using it is highly recommended.

1. Open console with ~
2. showplasticsurgeonmenu

3. Press [ENTER]
4. Make the desirable modifications (just like when creating a new character)

5. Click OK

6. Close console with ~

In order to get a haircut / facial hair (like a http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1451926-roleplay-brainstorming/#entry22438556) without altering your character's face, just press OK at the first step of the creation window without changing anything.

Showracemenu will get you the same thing. It's always a good idea to use tgm first to prevent having any player stats or active effects reset.

Which is only an issue if you're using showracemenu, since the modification of racial settings means disabled perks, thus altering the player's stats. The showplasticsurgeonmenu is the same minus the racial part, so I think it's a better choice.

But as we're already discussing such matters, showbarbermenu would've been the most obvious answer to the OP's question. Still, I found that my recommendation gives the player more freedom with the possible (and safe) face modification option.

By the way, why would tgm prevent the perk disablement feature? Are you speaking from personal experience? Frankly, I'm quite curious about since I've never heard about this one yet ...
