Applause for Bethesda

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:47 am

How did Bethesda accomplish this amazing game? They have created an entire world inside this and previous Elder Scrolls games. How much work was put into this game? TES games seem to be the largest that exist. How?

The collector's addition for PC has a making of the game. They did spend lots of time and effort.

You know you opened a window for OB bashers.

If they want to bash Oblivion, then why are they on Oblivion's forums? If they despise the game and have nothing good to say about it, then they shouldn't be on this thread.

Yep. Great game. One of my favorite aspects is that the makers were wise enough to include provisions for customizing the game almost without limits for those on PC.

Even those who bash the ever-loving crap out of Oblivion, who have mile-long lists carved in granite of complaints, omissions, undesired changes, problems with design philosophy, etc, etc, etc, still have immense appreciation for Bethesda and the game itself. TES General is full of people who tear Oblivion apart, yet if someone asks there whether they should buy it or not, the answer is always, "Absolutely."

Is the usual answer, but absolutely love Oblivion myself. Don't think I've had more playtime in any other game.

Same here.

I said that in another thread, but i really got the moneys value i put into that game back a hundred times. There are no other games (not even KoTOR) that i still play to this day since their release.
Oblivion (and very rarely MW) is the only one.
This company has convinced me that they can make great quality products , so i definitelly will support them by buying their stuff^^

Oblivion(goty edition) is now only $30(I've seen the ps3 version go for $20 sometimes). It is $60 or less for a portal to a second life filled with wonders and greatness.

In threads that are Morrowind-versus-Oblivion discussions, that's true.

But in threads where someone is simply asking whether Oblivion is worth getting (no Morrowind comparisons attached), even the bashers say "yes." If the OP hasn't played either Morrowind or Oblivion, while they might recommend playing Morrowind first on preference, they still in that case will say, "Get both."

Even though I have complaints about how Bethesda handled certain aspects of the game, I have to admit they do a lot for us, giving us Arena and Daggerfall for free, releasing the CSes, and hearing complaints of PS3 owners and actually giving them DLC in their next game.

But VS. threads aren't allowed here? :P

There are a large crowd of detractors as you have said, and they are very vocal when it comes to said topic. Also, they hang out in CD lolz

DLC delivery time for ps3 users can still easily be improved.

I still don't have Oblivion's DLC.(They never released it all)

I'm an intruder!

Seriously, Oblivion is not Morrowind II. And it is a great game. Lots of sweat, blood, caffeine and tears went into it and I join the applauses for Bethesda.
Now back to the Morrowind forums, I go. :P

With lot's of effort and time put into it. I believe games this big usally take about 3-4 years to develope. I wouldn't be surprise if Daggerfall took even longer to make.

Mind you, a lot of Daggerfall is randomly generated.

I just bought Oblivion/SI with KNOTN/DLC pack after getting tired of Obsidians/Atari's horrible schemes with NwN2. I think Bethesda has done an amazing job on this game, Morrowind, and their business ethics in general (Not sacrificing quality of the game and experience with oodles of protections). In fact the only problem with Oblivion was that I just wish there was some sort of quest / Ritual to level up those Leveled(Like the KNOTN armor leveling thing, I love that!) quest/artifact items that seem to get weak after you level up. Unlike Morrowind which had a diffrent system entirely. I hope they put something like that in the next ES game, I think they could really expand upon the way Artifacts seem to find new heros/change using an idea like this. I thought it was kinda unfair that those beautiful items Bethesda put so much time and lore into had to be ditched for more powerful stuff after a while. But I can't wait for the next ES -Or any gamesas- game either way. Because Oblivion is easily one of the most solid games other than Morrowind and Warcraft3 -Both of which I have played for 7+ years- that I've ever played. I even bought Fallout 1/2/3/DLC after this recent experience. Bethesda and Blizzard are seriously two of the most wonderful studios for PC gaming and I'd consider buying any game either makes. With the exception that I don't play WoW. I can't wait for the future games of Bethesda, they're worth EVERY dollar.

Yep indeed, most of it actually.

Daggerfall took two years to develop, and with a smaller development team than Oblivion's and Morrowind's.

As everyone else have posted, Bethesda Rocks. I think some people bash Oblivion because it wasn't as supremly awesome as Morrowind, but it's still a amazing game and one of the best RPGs on the Next-Gen systems.

Bethesda is just awesome whether you like Morrowind or Oblivion more. I say we have one day where we just appreciate them for what they are, and not complain about which game is better. I personally like Morrowind more. But I'm not going to rant on about things that are better in it.

Honestly I've put more time into Beth's games (i.e. gotten my moneys worth) than any other game I've played minus EverQuest.

Great job Beth, keep up the good work and PLEASE don't keep us in the dark on what you've got in the works! We can't wait!
