Applewatch makes me sad

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:05 am

I really like the little Applewatch home but after completing DB, and having Lucian just left in there like that really ruins the game imo. They should have made a quest where you can clean up the home and give Lucian a decent burial. Despite being a DB member, he was actually one of the best characters in-game.

Just walking past Applewatch on my journey's around Bruma makes me kind of sad. Anyone else agree?

I agree 100%.
Oblivion didn't offer too many "Oh my god!" shock moments -- most of the quests were quite predictable.
The DB quests though were full of mystery, back-stabbing and coniving and Lucien's death was an utter, draw-dropping shock.

Lucien was a friend for me -- he picked me up out of the gutter and showed me a warm loving home.
Then when we worked side-by-sided in Fort Farragut, we bonded terrifically. :hugs:

So then way he was killed and butchered was just horrible, and left me half-wondering if i should kill every last son-of-a-daedra Black Hand, in the hope of getting the Informant.

So, yes, I would quite have liked to give him a proper burial, a little tombstone outside Applewatch maybe, where he can watch the sunrise over Cyrodiil. :violin:

R.I.P. Lucien. :(

Yeah, he should have been buried but I'd have given him a special burial in some unmarked area, Applewatch itself wouldn't feel right.

Also, I agree that there weren't many shocking moments like that. The only other time I felt pretty sad was when Martin died during the main quest. I wished Martin could have stayed, such an awesome character.

He passed on. a.k.a he died.

Plus, it would have been cool if he'd survived and went on to rule Cyrodiil, maybe with some extra quests (that run on a cycle) so that he's constantly in contact with the Player (if the Player wants to that is).

Yeah, that would have been good. I hated that jerk Councellor. If Martin could have been the new Emporer, it would have been nice if the Player could be his right-hand man.
Kind of like what happens -- oh wait (SI spoiler, maybe?)
Spoiler
Kind of like what happens when the Player becomes Sheogorath's champion/slave/right-hand man.

Martin was a good man. BTW, what happens to Jauffre after the MQ? I can't find him?

I also wish Kvatch had been rebuilt.

Lucien was ok.

I hated the Purification, though. What a waste of splendidly engaging NPC's.

Well in my game Jauffre didn't survive the end battle just outside Bruma. As he's a quest item he's still lying there.

Bethesda should have included more burials for important NPC's imo. Jauffre was arguably one of the top 5 NPC's in-game.

I also wish Kvatch had been rebuilt.

Yeah. They have a mod for that but I don't like the idea of relying on a mod to do something that should have been in Vanilla Oblivion. Cleaning up Kvatch (and parts of the IC when it got attacked) should have been added as bonus quests.

He loses his essential status at the start of the Battle of Bruma. If he survives, you'll find him at Cloud Ruler Temple. If not, his corpse should be at the battlefield. Same goes for Baurus, except that he loses his Essential status when you enter the room with the Sponsor of the Mythic Dawn, and can die there and any time afterward, including at Cloud Ruler Temple should you choose to off him there.

When he was killed it made me want to kill Arquen then and there... The Nightmother yelling at her kinda alleviated the urge :)
