Update: [hopefully one week is not thread necromancy...]
I am now leader of the Imperial Legion on Morrowind. It was manageable without too much fuss via alchemy and my trusty enchanted Imperial Broadsword - purchased Galbedir's Winged Twilight soul to put Absorb Health 19pts for one second on strike on my first Imperial Broadsword. I'll keep that sword in my inventory until I retire this soldier. Ah, memories. By far, the hardest part was the duel with Varus - I forgot to buff with my homemade potions before entering the Pit the first time, and he killed with one hit. That's ~250 health in one fail swoop, with a mix of Dragonscale & Imperial Templar armor. I reloaded, fortified to 3,000 health, and drank a couple restore 500 health/sec before the next bout. God bless alchemy. My standard wilderness/exploration potions are restore health/restore fatigue/feather. No matter what happens or what I find, I can keep myself alive and drag ALL the fat lute back to town.
I think I will take the liberty (owing to my new rank) of inviting an Imperial enchanter to craft me another sword. Since Varus's sword (before Chrysamere) was an enchanted steel longsword, I'll assume those are not viewed as out-of-the-ordinary for commanders. Time to hunt a Golden Saint, trap a soul, and craft, perhaps.... as much damage fatigue on strike as it will fit?... should make for a nice weapon, won't backfire on me when I'm up against 100% reflect (due to my restore fatigue potions), and will eventually wear out even the highest-level opponents to make them easy fodder for my trusty absord-health blade....
If only I felt OK using an Ebony longsword... such fine blades....
