Arachnophobia - Spinnenphobie

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 3:00 am

Ok, you guys are actually starting to make fun of the OP. How about if you do not have something constructive or uplifting to say to someone who actually has a condition like this, how about not replying to the thread?

I don't think its so much making fun of the OP as it is making fun of his request.

Its not funny to have a serious fear of something, but its laughable to demand said thing be removed from a game otherwise you won't buy it. I could think of a dozen things in an Elder Scrolls game that someone might have a serious fear of... and there is no way the developers can make a patch to remove every one of them, and they shouldn't try. The simple fact of the matter is if you can't play the game because it has a couple spiders in it, well then don't buy it.

It is possible the OP could ask a modder nicely to remove the spiders from the game for him. But don't sit here and threaten the developers that you won't buy the game if they don't do exactly what you want.... its not going to work.

I dunno, I think he made fun of us all in the first place posting in German(?) on an English forum.
Second, I don't like when people throw a bone thread at the others and then disappear without contributing to their own subject.
And last but not least, my constructive contribution to this discussion is: "I hope there is a mod made by modders to help this minority see spiders replaced, while I think Bethesda should focus on releasing patches and expansions to cater a larger audience".

The Spiders aren't real they won't jump out of the screen at you and if we catered to everyone then all the enemies would be sheep because people are scared of certain enemy/Enemies that are important to the Gameplay.

nope after playing minecraft im scared of sheep, because i was hiding in a cave at night and one jumped down right infront of my face...i wa slike oh hai then a creeper came down with it and blew me up so no sheep. (this did happen but im not actually scared of sheep)

These issues should be dealt by the modding community. The large majority of us don't have this disease and we're looking forward to fighting spiders. I personally love this addition, dungeons need to be dangerous and creepy and the spiders are the best choice for that matter.

Incidentally, Harpaxophobia is the fear of robbers, let's get rid of all those highwaymen and bandits in Skyrim to cater to those people.

oh and Ovinophobia is the fear of sheep, can't have those either.

Dendrophobia, the fear of trees, better get rid of those

At this rate, Bethesda had much better just ship an empty game, that way no one will be afraid right? oh wait, I forgot Nihilophobia, the fear of nothingness...

Yahh, this request was made before. Spiders are in a alot of games.... if you can't handle them, simply don't play the game, I know it harsh and cliche response. But its effective and true :P

If your on PC, get an unofficial patch.

I'm sure a good way of dealing with a phobia is slaying it with a giant sword anyway.

Yep I noticed this trend: want to bring up a controversial subject? drop the bomb and vanish.

OT: thanks Bethesda for adding those hairy bastards, I can't wait to see the drop from the ceiling animation :geek: :cold: :hehe: :shocking:

I personally think he should get Skyrim for the simple reason that there is his phobia featured in the game.
Kinda like how I overcame my phobia of clowns, with encouragement from my brother, I played all the way through Batman Arkham Asylum when before The Joker scared the [censored] out of me but now I'm kinda scared of scarecrow.

I agree I know people might be busy but if you can't defend what you've post then what's the point in posting it, not to mention that it's very cowardly that someone would run and hide and not defend why they feel the way that they do.

I hate spiders, but I certainly wouldn't mind bashing them in the yap with a shield, or shooting them in the eyes with a fat bolt of lightning a la Skyrim.

Bethesda sollt nicht spinnen l?schen nur weil du angst hat davor, viele mensche finden die Spinnen ein gute Zusatz. Ich habe auch angst vor Spinne, aber in eine Computer spiele habe ich keine angst davor.

Well my German svcks, but I hope you understand :P

I don't speak or read German. But I can read my name. What is being said about me? :P

This is called trolling and my god, is it easy to do around here (no offence). Seriously, you people should stop responding to this type of threads. Nothing good can come of it and the OP is probably sitting back laughing at your replies.I've seen it happen before and I see it happening now. Every arachno/whatever-o-phobia thread was a massive disaster. I remember one that was continued from another, with the OP saying himself "i did it because the replies are fun" and STILL you didn't spot the troll. Trolling is posting something "...with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response..." and it's exactly what is happening here.

Just some friendly advice, take it how you will.

I have a friend who has trouble playing because she gets motion sickness when the game gets wild. Does anyone else know of someone like that and did they have a solution? Thank you.

And I'm sorry about the Arachnophobia. I agree with the poster that suggested a mod be made to help you with that so you can play. :)

:tes:

Problems with exploerer not sure if this was mentioned or not. This is something like Epilepsy. I have this too on certian games. Lots of light, don't play in the dark, take a break every 45 minutes, eat some ginger product. When tired, quit.

Sit furhter away from the TV if possible as well. I made a post about this along time ago and lots of great tips were given.

Danke.

Sorry 'bout the spiders...
I don't like 'em either, but I'm looking forward to becoming a famous spider-slayer.
Conquer your fear in a virtual world, conquer it in real life.
If you can kill a spider the size of a truck in Skyrim, you can handle a penny-sized one in real life. :flamethrower:

someone translate my idea for him the best way to cure your arachnophobia is to sink a sword into the belly of a giant spider and kill it but if you cant bring yourself to fight one then im sure more than a few modders will make patches that remove them

Not all spiders are penny sized but yeah I do agree that killing one in Skyrim should help a little bit in getting over Arachnophobia.
