[RELz]An-Arane Cey: Lost Sword of the Ayleids

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:41 am

Nope! Not at all! We changed very little in the vanilla game itself but to add our clue scrolls in their locations and add a single door in another location. :D So far, we have no conflicts of that type reported. I can say that I know for a fact our mod is compatible with Open Cities: Leyawiin Reborn. From that, I can make the assumption it will be compatible with the other Open Cities mods.
Again, we changed nothing to add our clues, merely placed them in existing structures.

If someone does manage to find a conflict, please let us know so we can fix it, though I don't envision any. An-Arane Cey is not an intrusive mod. :D

So far I have not found any conflicts. And you know how detailed my reports are when I come up with questions. :chaos:

As I long ago finished the quest and would prefer not to repeat it, should I be able to retain the sword if I uninstall the old version and install the new without a clean save in between? Would it break anything if I don't install the new movie file?

whats it say in the readme?

As long as you have finished the questline, you can install the new version over the old without losing anything. However you also wont see any of the new content. ANd your right, just dont make a clean save :)

I asked because your #2 installation instructions (which fit my situation) don't include a clean save step. When the name of the esp hasn't changed, the game usually loads the updated file as though it were the old one and thus has no problem loading old saves. Has the ID# for the sword changed in the new version?

it should work fine, no clean save needed for that. :)

Hey

So far this Mod has been a blast but I have run into a snag that I think is script related. I am currently on journal entry #9 ( getstage ASQuest = 40.00 ) in the "Pirate" cave. The room is clear & the clue is on the ground in front of me but no matter what I do I can NOT pick it up thus complete the quest stage. I noticed that another user on PlanetElderscolls ( "TheLastSOLDIER" http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=5136 ) was having the same problem. Now I have moved your MOD all over my load order to see if something loading before or after was causing this with no luck. Is there a way to use a console command to get the clue & advance past this step ? or anything else I can do to get moving on this so I can be ready for your next Mod with the matching armor..

Thanks in advance

With the new randomizer in the spawning of the clues, there is often a delay of a second or two and on rare occasions, a much longer delay. The final clue, which I think you're on, may have spawned in the same place as the scroll you see. Try moving it, walking into it, picking it up and see if the actual clue appears beneath/inside it.

If that isn't the case, we may have our first bug. I'll ask Mage to have a look at it soon as he gets on. :foodndrink: If you could post your load order, that would be a help as well. Thanks!

Thanks for the fast response. So you are saying the quest activator is location based and not item based? ie I need to stand in the spot the scroll clue was located vs picking up the scroll to advance the stage? as it is now the cursor looks normal for being able to pick up item but hitting the "Action" key does nothing but I can hit "Z" and grab the clue & move it around but I cant actaully pick it up to add to inventory.

per your here is my current load order...

Okay, no, the clue spawn is not location based. Let me try and explain this better. The scroll you actually 'see' is a dummy. When you click on it, it tells the mod to pull one of the clues on it's list, hence the slight delay. The final clue however, no matter where it is, seems to have the longest delay and on occasion, the actual clue will spawn on top of the dummy. It will sometimes look as though there are suddenly two scrolls, only one of which can be picked up.

What I meant by 'move the scroll' was just that, walk through it or something and see if a second scroll rolls out. It happens. Actually happens to me almost every time I go through the quest.

Thanks for the load order! When Mage gets on later, we'll get started on this. :D

I just installed this one (version 2), I hope to enjoy this treasure mod after finishing yesterday Ungarion's Memoirs, The Welkynd Sword.
Is it balanced for FCOM?

Yes interesting! in this case I have better empty all what is in stock in stores to prepare the next steps :)
My only complaint so far about this mod is the following: The beginning
No one dream of a treasure gratis. Dreams should be triggered by something, a spell from a scroll in a Dungeon, the ghost of a famous dead treasure hunter. Also it would be interesting to change the shape of clues papers, they should look like old hand written scrolls.

I have found a bug in this quest:
The clue in Sardavar Leed won't activate.

I will try a second time (from the begining of the Dungeon), if the problem persist I see only one solution:
SetStage ASQuest #

How I solved my problem in Sardavar Leed?
The console command SetStage ... (I was in Stage 40), don't let you advance to the next clue since you won't be able to get the scroll in your inventory.

However what I made is the following tricks:

1- First I cleaned all the area from enemies and tried to maximum that they not project the scroll from it's location by a spell or something else (better train them in fight far from the scroll), although I don't think this step is necessary but better to be safe.

2- I made a savegame and exited Oblivion.

3- I loaded the savegame.

4- I go to the scroll but don't enter the middle area to not provoke the moving walls.

5- I type the console command: TCL , then I fly to the scroll from a different angle and here what happens?? I find in fact there were two clues scrolls in the floor, one of them is somewhat hidden. I activate the second scroll and my quest log advanced to the next clue.

This quest rocks..
I'm in the phase of figh with the somewhat immortal "Wraith Gloom", but what are clues with
Spoiler
the sacrophages
?, that a question that would take a time to solve ...

Edit:
Quest finished! I rated the mod 10 in TESNexus.

Excellent mod. Really appreciated the clues - and the fact that not all of them involved dungeon diving. Don't get me wrong, dungeon diving is fun, but variety is good.

Really liked the two videos. Excellent voice work too.

One suggestion I do have though. It might be an idea to have the option to turn the sword's flames off. I'd imagine that this could slow down some lower spec'd PCs? Not that it affects me, and I'm enjoying the sword in all its flamey goodness.

Okay! The clue spawn bug has been squashed! :celebration: Thank you Mage!

If you've been experiencing this bug, where the final clue fails to spawn properly, download the update esp and copy/paste it into your data files. This should clear it up!

I finally got my computer back. I finally got Oblivion re-installed so that I can go back to playing what I have saved on the external drives. I lost all my save game data though. I keep forgetting that the save game data gets saved on the computer instead of the external drive. So I have to restart as a new character with each set up of the game I am trying out. I get to do this quest all over again, rofl.

LOL I feel your pain! When our boot drive crashed last year I lost everything. Every save and mod and the game itself. :banghead: Glad you're back up and running now! Drop me a message if you're up to running through Shady's dungeon for AotF. :D The build is close to finished I think and amazing. Woo!

LOL No worries. I've had to do some restructuring on the basic story of the mod but work will begin again in earnest very soon. I have a couple very knowledgeable modders who've volunteered their skills to help me finish An-Arane Cey: Armor of the Fallen. :hugs: As I'm currently helping DarkRider with his Reclaiming Sancre Tor mod, I'm holding off on AotF until that releases, hopefully in the next month. After that, this will be primary focus.

Good voice acting in this mod, that sixy voice at the start is driving me crazy...
And I did a real brainfart with the first clue and looked for a certain ruins at the *wrong* ring road. :banghead:
