[RELZ] Arcane Archery 1.0

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 2:45 pm

I adore these kinds of mods - I ran a character over to see the school but haven't had time to roll a new archer to really try it out. Bow models looked great, the arrows sound great too. Would have to agree with Sieboldii, Burden is usually the least useful unless it's powerful enough to really 'root' the mob, and in that case, you may as well have just used paralyze, if they cost the same and last as long.

How about some additional levels of imbuing for double or triple effects - gems or herbs used as spell reagents, maybe? Maybe with quests to discover and learn those recipes? It's fantastic the way it is, but if you're bored and really wanting to add content... :D

The current 'active' time for the imbued spell is good; lasts long enough for two shots at the targeted NPC. It seems that most of the NPCs can resis about 50% of the spells they are hit with.

Hello, I really loved your mod.
But, apparently i was the only guy who has this annoying bug.
I download the last version.

while equipping the spark arrow a warning pops

A minor update:
-some small interior improvements
-adding the missing textures for the shock arrows - thanks to Amenophis for reporting this
-improved the burden imbue's strength

No new quests ATM - I can't think of anything interesting, and not requireing too much scripting (as I'm not too good at it)

Not at the moment, but soon my assassin will be back from his long journey and he'll stop at the school to learn new tricks.
Meeting the masters of the school while venturing around the world was both surprising and great.

I'll be sure to leave some feedback once I play a bit more of it.

Edit: There's 2 things I'm wondering about now:

1- Shouldn't Alteration be a favored skill of the school too?

2- About the Imbued Arrows spells: Could Telekinesis be changed for an effect of the corresponding school of the arrows, thus slowly leveling up that school of magic?

So far I only know a few basic spells, but the arrows really look good.

For the future, I'd prefer if you'd add a new post rather then edit the old one (even if it would result in a doublepost) - I missed the update ;)

1. Well, there's only one Alteration imbue (and it's not really that useful, plus there aren't any other effects in the school which would fit imbues)...
2. It could, but I'd need to remove the "always succeeds" from the spells themselves (the failure is handled by the script)... Still, its a good idea (why didn't I include it in the first place?) though I'd need to see how the cost would affect the chance to cast the spells at the respective skill levels...

Then a new post it is. It's time for a http://i52.tinypic.com/20zsmk2.jpg.

During my last modding/testing session, I noticed that the Arrow Imbue Burden and Dispel weren't working, regardless of my skill level. I checked the related scripts and the problem is that they check the wrong variable to create the arrows. (Illusion instead of their own school of magic) Gave a look at the other imbues and only Burden/Dispel had this problem.

How did I miss that? Then again, everyone else also did - though I'm not sure if it is something I should be happy about...

Anyway, thanks for the info. A fixed version of the mod is now on PES and http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37672 (new DL location).

I did get the same problem but since my assassin char rarely uses magic (but illusion and healing) I figured i had to get a higher skill level for them to work, but nice to hear its been fixed

Whoops, there's a typo in the readme! The sentence reading: "It's students are taught the secrets of creating enchanted arrows..." needs to have the apostrophe removed from "It's".
