alteration i awesome for protecion and crowd control with paralyze(but i read absorb magic perk hurts conjuration i wouldnt take that one :P, but magic resist and some armor wouldnt hurt)

Yes. You may want to incorporate sneak since you have muffle and invisibility from illusion. Later anything that gets close to you can be paralyzed with Alteration. Early going it will pretty much be use alteration armors just because, throw out a summon, shoot stuff. But it's totally viable in the short term and the long haul.

It'll work, Bethesda might have missed the spell crafting but really made people roleplay their character. :tes:

Not as much as in oblivion, since you cant cast with your off-hand with bows or 2H anymore. This is why throwing knives are needed, as one-handed ranged weapons.

I've played 140 hours on mine and loved every minute.

I agree you should take a look at the sneak tree as well, even if just for the sneak shot multiplier. The Throw Voice shout is also invaluable.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy it.

Entirely viable. Fun to play, too. I'd take Sneak, though.

I'm finding that it's really easy to level up all the skills; I'm not really specialized in anything. When I felt my One-handed skill was falling behind as it was at level 30 or so I started using blades a lot. Now it's 78 or so. Skills level up relatively fast it seems.

Archery
Alteration
Illusion
Conjuration
Alchemy

Since I love magic, I'd suggest destro. for wall spells when things get up close. Invest in one or two (if you're like me, three) elements. Preferably ice (keep melee off) and whichever you like between lightning and fire.

And might I suggest enchanting for your mystic archer? Just the 1st five perks and up the middle tree would work great. It'll provide some resistance, magicka boosting, more bow dam. and spell cost reduc.

I know enchanting can be OP, but I think you really have to try to OP it, or I'm doing something wrong.

Hope I've helped n good luck!!

I think you'd be fine, so long as you don't neglect practicing your combat skills while levelling up your other skills. Use a perk calculator (like this one: http://chrizel.github.com/skyrim/) to work out if you'll be able to afford all the perks you want.

I pretty much just use a conjured bow to one shot just about everything (thanks to the 3x sneak bonus).

first u have to many perk pts XD dont worry, if u stick to this build yah enchating is great to boost ur bow dmg and maybe reduce magicka cost or magicka reg

pd smith weapons at the end with enchanting are better yah, but no necessary just have fun all works :)!

I wouldn't touch Sneak if you want to have fun. It's grossly overpowered.

I think sneak and fun are compatible. I like to use it to assess confrontations and plan non-stealth assaults, rather than as a means of hugely increasing damage and avoiding retaliation. But I agree, it is vulnerable to potentially fun-spoiling abuse (although some people will naturally enjoy even uber-stealth ninjahood).

I have tried a lot of different character types, but I seem to like the Stealthy Archer/Conjurer class better than others.

I stand back, hidden, and send my minion to attack opponents, and When it seems that they need some help, I send my arrows as well to help the victory.

But some times, it seems that a powerful back-stab from a hidden dagger works better than anything else, so I put some perks in one-handed skill as well.

So this sums it up for me:

Major:
Sneak
Archery
Conjuration
One Handed

Minor:
Smithing
Lock Picking
Destruction
Restoration

Archer Mage is an awesome combo. Archer stealth sniper shots for epic kills, and then expert level destruction plus a handy Dead Thrall for your average combat situation. A follower is good to bring in dungeons. Obviously, enchant the 100% cost reduction set. I wear a mix of clothes and light armor and my alteration and illusion are crappy compared to the rest of my skills (30-50 compared to everything else pushing 100 or already there, besides block/hvy armor). With a well smithed Daedric bow I can one shot Frost Dragons and their lesser ilk, and kill an Ancient Dragon before it gets off the ground. And that's not even the best the bows can get, I have no perks in Alchemy despite having hit 100 with the skill. Level 70 female Nord Mage/Archer, ~150 hrs in. All questlines completed, down to a couple sidequests and some glitched Misc tasks. Probably a quest or two left here or there and a few shouts to finish but 50/50 achievements and pretty much unstoppable, time to start a fighter playthrough.
