Archer/Ranger question

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 1:16 am

So I'm playing an archer/ranger, taking out as much enemies as possible with my bow and than going into hand-to-hand combat.
I'm L19, been going full HP.
Now I'm wondering, continue being a HP-tank, or putting some points in stamina too for power-attacks and such.

My question: Do you feel like stamina is worth investing in.

Thanx,
.NoWay.

I play a sneak/archer. I am level 39 now, and I first started to invest in stamina because I kept running out of inventory room and I needed space. Than I discovered the archery perk that allows you to slow time and shoot arrows. I can tell you that the stamina really helps. I have now 250 stamina and I can get off about 4 shots before the slow motion runs out. It's enough to wreck a room full of guys while I sit in the corner and than scuttle away lol. Plus it's nice to be able to carry more stuff.

Yeah, wasn't sure whether I'd take the slow-motion perk, but now I come to think of it, it's really useful.

As a pure ranged char, I ended up going 50% Health and 50% Stamina up until 350 in each (around L51), at which point I have started to put a few points into Magica, just so I can play with some fun spells.

My first 5 point went into hp, then I remembered that stamina makes you able to carry more and I'm always out of inventory space. Even took the "horse" sign to have +100 cary capacity.
I think I'm lvl 23 (I'm doing really slow lvling : ) using the slow effect quite often and if they come close bash them with my 1h. Right now I try to have as much hp as stamina.
You need stamina for the slow time attack (really useful) cary extra stuff, but in the end hp is still more usefull. You need to find you own balance (going full hp is not an option imo :)

Unless you're playing a pure mage, you're going to need to put a meaningful investment into stamina. You need it for power attacks, and regular attacks, and shield bashing, and the bow perks, etc.

Not really I just boost my health up don't see to much point in stamina I would rather survive longer to cause more damage than cause lots of damage but die fast.

imo, stamina is less important then health. the slow time perk uses stamina, but you only have to tap it, holding it down while you nock the next arrow is kind of pointless...

I was doing health only until level 15 or so. With the eagle eye with slow motion zoom, I figured its better to keep my bow drawn for longer. That any carry more stolen goods.

Thanx for the replies.
I'll certainly put some additional points into stamina.

Well, Stamina will be more effective if you play on like Novice and under. If you play Expert - Master, Health is really essential.
Especially for rangers only. I'm level 38 with like 95 Archery and 200 Stamina, the rest = Health.

You do a lot more damage with bows if you get the slow time perks, and those consume stamina. I'm level 16 currently with my archer, I've invested about 2/3 of my leveling bonuses into Stamina and I always wind up wanting more.

Level 26 on my Ranger, and every point has gone into stamina. Enemies don't get close enough to attack anyway. :P

I play a ranger too, I put 1 health to every 2 stamina. Stamina is most important for all my characters. I need to run and perform in combat. I never use magic, and providing I fare well in combat, my health takes care of itself.

Definitely. I guess it depends on how you play, but for me, I try not to get into 1v1 close combat, so I don't need the HP. I have enough HP (and I will continue to scale it as I level) to survive a couple of hits, but other than that I don't need it. Why? Because when I fight ranged, if I get hit, I run/hide and heal, then continue fighting. I make it a point not to get into up-close combat, as a ranger doesn't excel at that. So why put points into health to fight up close, when really I shouldn't be fighting up close at all?

Slow-time and carrying capacity are also much more fun with more stamina. And I love being able to run a bazillion miles. I think I'm putting it into stamina:health at a ratio of about 5:1

If you have time to draw, it's no big deal.

But if you are trying to get something dead before you get fully detected, then slow time draw can be a big help.

(This doesn't work so well on dragons, though. Partly because of range issues. It seems like if you are within arrow range and it's daylight you need a good distraction if you are going to stay stealthed: even with the damage bonuses it's going to take a lot of stealthed arrows to injure a powerful dragon, so you are better off drawing normally.)
