Archery crosshair misalignment question

Post » Mon Jun 08, 2015 4:29 pm

So just started my first archer. Bosmer with 50 marksman skill. Using a chiten short bow and arrows it took 24 shots to kill a kwama worm. Couldn't hit it at all from short range and missed it most of the time at point blank range. My fatigue bar was full.

The arrows seemed to be firing to the left of the crosshairs. Is this normal? The only way I hit it was by aiming to the right of the Kwama.

Is there an ini adjustment to bring the arrow alignment closer to the crosshair?

I'm using MCP and MGE XE (with scaling at 2.0 to make on screen text big enough for me to read). Could the MGE XE scaling cause such a misalignment? Is there a tweak for MCP or MGE XE I am missing?

Try turning off the scaling and see. I haven't noticed any terribly obvious problems with archery on my end.

Hmm. Maybe the hitbox on the Kwama is small or maybe it was clipping into the hillside or some other temporary glitch cause I just went down to the coast by Seyda Neen to test as you suggest, starting with the 2.0 scaling and hit a Mudcrab from 20 yards away with no problem. One shot kill.

It may be something to do with distance. Like perhaps the projectile doesn't "spawn" directly in front of the player when firing and is instead off to the side, which could make hitting things in melee range awkward.

Could be. But I started aiming at the Kwama at range and could not land a single shot. Then when it closed the distance and started attacking I finally landed a couple shots. Another thing it could have been was maybe I was not drawing the bow long enough.

Everything seems to be fine now though, as I just downed a cliff racer with the bow in one shot.

I've concluded those Kwama worms are just impossible to hit with a bow. I can take mudcrabs and cliff racers out no problem (often with a single shot) but after missing 8 times in a row against another Kwama, my character had to resort to a spear, which he has very low skill in but hits Kwama in two or three hits instead of one in 20.

Their hitbox is a little wonky. It looks like it's overly narrow. https://www.dropbox.com/s/jzz28fhh6pzdes0/Kwama%20Forager%20Fix.zip?dl=0's a fix you could try

use console command:

PlaceAtPC "Kwama Forager" 1 1 1

Then try shooting a few

Hey, thanks! This works perfectly. They are still kind of hard to hit cause they jump around so much, but now if I line a good shot up it will hit. Thanks so much for this.
