Archery Leveling

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 12:13 pm

Hey folks,

My apologies if this has been answered before.

I am wondering about how the leveling system for Archery works. My Archery skill is at 84 now but Ideally I like to get it to 100. I currently have an extremely high damage Daedric bow and Deadric arrows, however I am wondering if for the purposes of leveling, would it be better to use a basic long bow with Iron arrows in order to level up? This way it would take far more hits to kill an enemy so would that help me level quicker?

Im not sure so if anyone could help me out I'd greatly appreciate it.

Cheers.

Exp is on a per-hit basis. If it takes 10 arrows instead of 1, you'll be getting more experience.

Much appreciated. Long Bow and Iron Arrows it is. Better stock up on Health Potions!

Now here's a question. Does the distance of the shot increase the EXP at all?

No, experience is on a damage-dealt basis, not on a per-hit basis.

Just like in lockpicking, if you pick 20 Novice locks, they won't give you much exp, but if you pick a couple Master locks, you will get a LOT of experience.
Or pickpocketing, you can pickpocket 2,000 lockpicks if you want, but they don't give you very much exp, but if you pickpocket an emerald necklace, you will get a lot of experience.

Okay, Sorry I'm a wee bit confused now.

My daedric bow does about 300 base damage (fortify archery rocks) and I am getting one hit kills on most things. So is it better to One Hit kill with my Daedric Bow or fire off 10 iron Arrows with an ordinary Long Bow in order to Level?

Wouldn't that be the case for One-Handed as well though? But it's not, it's a per-hit basis for OH.

I found a glitch where if you fire your ebony arrows in to the air at nothing, you level once per arrow. :bolt:

Work for other arrows, as well? Just slower?

On a semi related note, I was very pleased to see that if you fire an arrow straight up, it will eventually come back down near you, rather than disappearing into the atmosphere.

So, get yourself some healing magic and a quiver full of steel arrows. Cause we're powerleveling archery today.
