Archey Weapons?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 6:03 pm

I would love to have a crossbow, and be Daryl Dixon. Archery is hardly ever used in a non-medival game, do you think archery would fit in this game?

Yes, every character I play in Elder Scrolls uses a bow.

Yes, but imo it should be part of a weapons overhaul. No more Raiders with rocket launchers, have powerful weapons be rare and ammo more scarce. A bit like in The Last of Us. Brilliant game with a great combat and weapons system imo. There's a bow in that game as well, though not a crossbow. With some instructions a longbow is something that wouldn't be too hard to put together for a survivalist on his own, same goes for arrows. I would be happy with more people using crude melee weapons, bows and the occasional firearm. Though you could say the abundance of heavy weaponry including plasma weapons, mini nuke launchers and miniguns is part of what makes Fallout Fallout.

Sure why not? Of course, I would also want Rick's Colt Python, too. :)

Longbow wouldn't be the most practical of weapons in most FO situations. A recurve-style bow would probably be a better fit.

Bows make for a cheap, effective long-range, silent weapons.

For long, short, recurve or compound bows, though, there might need to be a mechanic to determine how much strength is applied to the shot based on how long the attack button is held... Well, maybe not compound bows... Once you draw back, it's the same strength for every shot.

Still, I wouldn't mind a scoped crossbow for hunting raiders...

Have to check myself, but I vaguely remember a youtube vid of someone claiming to spot crossbows in the footage we seen so far.

Simple wooden long bow with optional sight mod would be great.

I'd like arrow/bolt based weaponry just for the sake of killcams, heh.

I voted yes, as long as it's crossbows only.

Why not? Bows and crossbows have a higher armor piercing than many of the pistols ingame... And the courier would be dead if he had a bolt in his face... a bullet in the head isn't nice... but an arrow or bolt in the head... I don't think that would be easy to repair.

Sure, I won't use it except on a possible late character build. But doesn't seem like it would take a lot of resources to implement so why not.

Actually, the temporary cavity caused by hydrostatic shock from a bullet is far more deadly than an arrow or bolt would generally be. The thing about crossbow bolts and arrows is that unless they pass completely through the target, they tend to largely plug up their own wound channel.

A crossbow?
Yes it would actually make sense: cheaper and less tech-intensive, silent, with retrievable ammo.

All in all an excellent weapon for sneaking.

But a bow?
I don't know, I'd have problems getting behind it, mostly because I am a bit upset at how bows seem to be forced into every other game (Farcry, Crysis, Tomb Raider, the Last of Us etc).
Although I certainly wouldn't mind too much, provided they were well implemented and had proper limitations (like not being able to one-hit kill someone in Power Armour.

Yes. I want a Crossbow badly and ability to hang enemies on the wall with my crossbow bolts.

Bows and Arrows are very logical for the setting where ammo is supposedly scarce and guns are old and whatnot. Don't have enough caps to get a rifle to go hunting? Get some wood or metal, make some arrows and a bow.

Hell, my friend made a longbow from a piece of PVC pipe and it actually shoots pretty well.
