CS Archive Error

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 4:21 am

Hello,
I just recently started up the construction set and I got http://oi40.tinypic.com/mv6xcp.jpg error. If I hit yes, it keeps coming up. If I press yes to all, it continues to load All Natural.esm very slowly, as in 5 minutes in it still didn't do anything. At that point I can click Cancel, then it starts loading Better Cities Resources.esm, and if I keep clicking cancel it goes to Tamriel Travellers.esm, then All Natural - Real Lights.esp, then All NAatural - SI.esp, then All Natural.esp, then Better Cities - COBL.esp, then more better cities .esp's, then BladeOfTheHauntes.esp, then several more mods cush as the BC version of Clocks of Cyrodiil, Blood and Mud, Map MArker Overhaul, Enhanced Economy, Oblivion XP, and others less known, then it finally loads.
But it all starts again when I go to File > Data. I can cancel through it all again, but I'm worried that it will simply cause more errors when I actually start editing plugins.

Anyone ever seen this before, or know how to fix it? I've never seen it before and it's preventing me from actually using the CS, since it happenes every time I start it up. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I've not seen that error before.

Does your ini file contain this?
[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
SArchiveList=Oblivion - Meshes.bsa, Oblivion - Textures - Compressed.bsa, Oblivion - Sounds.bsa, Oblivion - Voices1.bsa, Oblivion - Voices2.bsa, Oblivion - Misc.bsa
SInvalidationFile=ArchiveInvalidation.txt

Its shouldn't be loading any files before you use the Files>Data menu option, bu there may be another .ini option that makes it pre-load. I don't remember if the CS has a "defaults" ini that it reverts to if you rename (safer than deleting) the regular one, but if it does I'd give that a try.

I actually renamed the CS .ini and let it generate a new one, and it still gave me the same error.

Yep, exactly.

I tried changing it to 0 just to see what would happen and it skipped the error, and started loading the files. However, I don't know if loading is the right word. It just creates a small window titled "file in use", says what file, and then a timer and "Waiting". http://oi43.tinypic.com/505wde.jpg is a picture.

Are you trying to load multiple plugins simultaneously?

No, because it all happens as soon as I start the CS, It doesn't give me a choice; it just happens. :brokencomputer:

:blink: That's just weird. I've encountered some weird behavior from the CS a few times, myself. Oddly enough, rebooting my PC fixed it. Try rebooting yours and see if that works. If not, try an uninstal/reinstal of the CS.

Oddly enough, I reinstalled it, and it works perfectly now. Thank you!

Rather than start a fresh thread, I'll hijack this one, since it's related. The CS doesn't load any content (when it's installed properly :tongue: ) until you select the data files, but it still has a few items showing in the sub-windows. Does anyone know where they're coming from?

It's stuff that's been injected in the CS itself. And if you're using the CSE, you'll find that shadeMe has injected all the credits for helping with the CSE into it too. You can create a plugin that's not dependent on Oblivion.esm, as you may know already. Nehrim is the largest example of that, as far as I know. But there are several other mods that aren't dependent on Oblivion as well.
