Are achievements going to be account bound or per character?

Post » Thu Feb 20, 2014 12:28 am

Like say my Sorcerer earns the achievement STARTER RAID 1st BOSS KILL!

Will my Templar be able to link that and have the same points total as my sorcerer? OR is everything individual?

Hard to gauge which way the developers are going, with banks being account wide, but vanity pets individual characters.

During the beta, my characters didn't share achievements.

Account bound, how else are one supposed to get all the achievements?

Titles can be per char, not sure.

Character bound. Some of those achievements include skyshards though, so it makes sense.

I didn't see any achievements that would require you to have multiple characters. Then again, I didn't look at an exhaustive list.

Having played the beta, Achievements are almost certainly fully per character not account.

However, the way this game operates not as an RPG game but based almost entirely around login/account username, even socially, as well as Guilds, therefore PvP and economically, gathering and crafting being almost entirely BoE, Skill Point progression encouraging alts specializing in different Skill sets, etc., it would make a lot more sense if Achievements were tied to account.

ESO can't stop failing at the small things.

Can't send gold between alts, hard to access auction house, you can ninja-loot chests in group dungeons, achievs aren't account bound. Fail more ?

Well I don't see how not being able to send gold to an alt is a problem and I've had to deal with that restriction in many games. And why are achievements not being account bound such a big deal?

Because when the NDA got lifted, some people ran out of significant imaginary-problems to criticize. I don't understand the account-wide achievements issue either. It's not like anyone gives a damn how many achievement points you have.

No, but just like in wow before they made achievements account wide, you won't be able to get into raid pugs who ask for achievement, with your alts even if you did kill that boss repeatedly on another character, because you can't prove it.

Same rules apply. How is this not wow in this particular case ?! You think no one will ask for achievements ?!

I think some people might, but since there aren't raids in the traditional sense, I think it would be fairly pointless.

That is wrong, if there is no achievement linking ,silly people will find another way to make life miserable for others. Take guild wars 2 for example which has no pve endgame. There is no gearscore and one cannot link achievements . So what do people do ? They start to gauge how good a person is by the total amount of achievement points they have and even advertise stuff like "LF1M dungeon minimum 10k achievement points" which is absolute madness.

Right, so the point is some people are jerks. The solution, then, is not to play with those people.

Oh an imperial. Decided which alliance to play in?

An achievement mod might be plausible, linking for ones own account to see ;) If it will be as the doom priests say. :P
