So are we finally able to create attractive characters?

Post » Tue Feb 04, 2014 2:51 am

One of the things that bothered me about all Elder Scrolls games is that despite my best efforts, I can't create a good looking character. Even my best creation in Skyrim looks like she got her face run over by a truck, and reversed over her face again for good measure.

I just viewed the character creation trailer on Youtube and the female human looks like a cheap hoker you can get for $20.

I just pre-ordered the Imperial Edition and Im just hoping to hear something from people who've played the alpha/beta - Are we finally able to create attractive characters in an Elder Scrolls game (in this case, TESO), or are we all going to look like Mr Bean and his girlfriend?

I had the same problem, always downloading addons to make attractive characters, there is a character creation video floating somewhere on the official site that you can look at, and it is possible

I agree with original poster. Not really that I try to make attractive players, but ones that look like I want.

My toons in ES games have all been hot. You pretty much have to make a wood-elf, The human woman never really worked out

Perhaps I'm just more fond of " looks like a cheap hoker you can get for $20" then you are

I'd like to show my created characters in Rift and FF14 just for reference to show the really nice characters I can create but I'm getting an error saying that I'm not allowed to post links.

There are different ideas of what constitutes "pretty". There are a million Skyrim skin mods, each reflecting the aesthetic taste of a different artist, and they're all different.

However, ESO's characters are a lot more conventionally pretty (fashion magazine style) than those in the (unmodded) single player games.

Whether it will meet your own, personal aesthetic tastes I can't say. Let's not pretend that your tastes are everybody's tastes though  I really dislike the Japanese style where all women are young girls and features are exaggerated. For me, I prefer realism, and a wide variety of looks... a range similar to what you'd see walking down a street. ESO doesn't quite accomplish that; TOO clean, if anything, for me. Comes closer than most MMOs though.

But nothing wrong with wanting a fantasy world instead of that; we're all different.

Huh? Its fairly widely agreed upon that it is completely impossible to create a good looking character in oblivion, there are a lot of options but all invariably lead to an end result that resembles a melting fish man.

Skyrim has definitely been the peak so far, still huge room for improvements, but I rarely find myself wishing my character could be "prettier", personally.

Dudeski -> Thanks for the help! Appreciate it! Had to take a shot in my bikini for my FF14 character due to all the ugly equipment for the Monk class.

Srikandi -> I understand there are mods to make your characters pretty in Oblivion/Skyrim etc. But I doubt there will be mods in TESO. I doubt any mods will be allowed in ANY MMORPGs. Anyway its good to hear from you that ESO's characters are more conventionally pretty.

Right, of course, no mods :) My point was just that even among people going for the "ideal", everybody has a different idea of what that is.

I just recently played through Skyrim (No mods) and I have to agree. All the women look like they have been partying for years, maybe some coke and meth. Frankly I am shocked they still have teeth. I like to make onry looking characters but damn I don't want them to look totally fugly. Something about the faces is just off.

Simple, don't play as an Orc, or Argonian.

They smell too.

Facegen not the biggest problem in this game I would say.

Right?

I'd rather create a dignified independent woman with a humble understated beauty, say like an amateur porm star or down town atlanta stripper.

People who can't make attractive faces in Oblivion just aren't dedicated or creative enough, so no, I'm sad to say that you probably won't be able to do so in TESO.

Nexus mods have a wide database of mods to make your characters look sixy, by sixy not refering to the nvde mods, more so the textures of the face, taning of skin, and character creation options. Whether TESO will allow mods to be used in that department doesnt matter, the rest of the world will still see you as being ugly =D. but it looks like they have come a way from the skyrim character creation. I got a real life friend who plays beta ( i cant get him to break and tell me hardly anything..) but he assures me that the faces are no longer brick to the head prosttutes on meth. and that the texturing used is also pleasant. guess I'll take his word for it
