I get sick of seeing snow in Ohio winters.

However, there's something about colder regions that you just can't get anywhere else. I love watching the silent snow fall in a quiet forest. I love shedding my enemy's blood across the frozen lack. I love the immersion of feeling like I need to huddle beneath my cloak when in the tundra. I love traversing snowy peaks through the mountains. I love braving blizards and snow storms, and I love icy caverns. Snow looks alike, sure, but there are a lot of settings it could fall on.

That being said, and I know this has had to have been said by now. But when I picture the mountains of skyrim, I see more than just snow. I see green evergreens, fjords, open grassy plains, and a lot of other interesting types of terrain. Even a tundra in summer time can be colorful and varried. And skyrim is more than just tundra.

Forests, duh.

I agree. They had festivals in daggerfall. Most of the time this meant discounts in stores. And yes, I play Harvest Moon/Rune Factory too.

hey Davor best bet is that it will look like New Zealand mountains (like in the Lord of the Rings) and also I think that the northern border with all the snow is actually a mountain pass that would descend into Skyrim

Well, if you're looking for real world references to why Skyrim won't be all snow, England is west of Sweden and Denmark, but its a hell of a lot warmer because of ocean currents. Perhaps Skyrim's coast is heated by warm ocean currents from the south. Also, do we know that Tamriel is in the Northern hemisphere of the planet? because if its in the southern hemisphere or near the equator, heading north doesn't mean getting colder. Also, Morrowind is just as far north as Skyrim, and it's not freezing cold. I think there will be lots of snow, but probably about half of Skyrim.

I love snow, I hope to someday live somewhere where it snows alot. Snow just feels relaxing and pure to me, but I hardly believe Bethesda is going to make the game all snow which is a good thing.

First off, no i wouldnt mind the snow, secondly the reason why the north of Cyrodiil is covered in snow is because its in the mountains. So all of Skyrim isnt covered in snow.

While I do hope for a lot of snow, I doubt it will be everywhere. There's bound to be warm valleys where farms and such can be found. I would expect the far northern parts and the mountainous areas to be snowy, with the large in-between space being more mild.

I wont but some people will it seems for some dumb reason some think all types of terrain should be in each elder scrolls game even though they take place in certain areas on a single continent.

The northern part of Cyrodiil on the Skyrim border near Bruma is extremely snowy but it is also very high up in the mountains. Beyond those mountains more to the north it might not be as snowy.

So you think northern climates only have one type of terrain?

-Grassland
-Moors
-Swamps
-Possibly even a desert-esque valley in the southwest bordering Hammerfell

Russia and Scandinavia are absolutely beautiful in the summer months; they contain more variety than you can shake a stick at, yet are famous for their harsh winters.

It did get to be a bit much in bloodmoon. Skyrim isn't all snowy and frozen, though. There is vegetation in a lot of the areas (particularly the coasts) the snow and such is mostly the inland. It is all very cold, though. So certain types of plants and animals probably are not going to appear.
