Are "in home" attacks new?

Post » Wed Jun 26, 2013 9:23 am

I have nearly 2000 hours playtime and have never before had a home invasion. Within the past three days I have had attacks inside Lakeview. The first was a troll and the second was a bandit chief. I had always thought that in home was sanctuary because of children etc. Is this something introduced by the last patch? If not, why would it take sooooo long to start?

It's a Hearthfire feature.

I was wondering the same. I came home to Lakeview once and there was inexplicably a bandit in my house. Scared the crap out of me to say the least.

I've had numerous attacks on the grounds but never one inside. First I've heard of it.

The worst I've had inside the house was skeevers in the cellar. I've never had bandits inside, groups of bandits appear outside on the grounds all the time, attacking the animals but I've never had them inside the house. I kind of find it annoying that bandits and giants show up at all, I mean they don't attack the Lorius farm or other farms. Any way to stop them all together?

I have had once skeevers in cellar and once bandits in my garden but nothing worse. Both with the same character and at the Heljarchen Hall. I wonder why I haven't seen any attacks etc. with any other character. Maybe you need to get a housecarl or a steward or both before getting any of those happenings?

Its a shame you can't have the steward hire a couple of guards. That would have been good, if you could build a guard barracks and hire a few guards for the place. Either hold guards or mercenaries.

I think I finished building my first hearthfire manor for about 4 minutes before I had 3 bandits storm in the front door, the worst part was not knowing what to do with the bodies, I piled them up on the fire.

My Lakeview house gets raided fairly often; last 2 attacks by bandits that killed my livestock first (thanks jerks) and a vampire attack before that killed my horse. Heijlarchen Hall has not been attacked yet. Wife and kids are there; I did have a Housecarl from Dawnstar patrolling there but he suddenly showed up at Lakeview. Good thing; he helped out against the last bandit raid.

na never inside except skeevers in the cellar. I had a horrible bug happen with my Mjoll when she was abducted from Lakeview. I rescued her and everything seemed fine but now she walks all strange and slow, a bit bow legged and can't follow me correctly any more...I write it off as she was violated by those bastards and leave her home to rest and recover

It's a known bug for those who have been abducted unfortunately including walking backwards and having deleted dialogue. The skeevers are a minor annoyance that I've only had to deal with a couple of times and hardly think of them as in-home attacks. I consider them pest extermination instead.

Fortunately my spousal kidnapping was bugged, I came home from Solstheim to Honeyside since I keep Ysolda and daughters in a vanilla home just to avoid any kidnappings. It makes pure RP sense to keep your family in the best protected place you have when you expect to be gone for an extended period. The game tried, I've got to give it credit but was foiled by my precautions thank goodness.

Do you know of any fix for consoles? This didn't happen when the vamps took her from the same location, only the Hearthfire bandits which bums me out a bit as she was my warrior wife and we would go on slay dates

A fix? Sadly no and I've played mostly on 360. The best fix is prevention unfortunately.

good question, last time when I had a house in Hearthfire DLC, I chose the road, to only build a small house building, I got no attacks from anyone; however when built big house, everyone seemed to attack, that would be nice to know about the attacks being stopped while at your own house you know?

Have you tried herding the cows over to one of the giant camps? They might leave you alone then, maybe the giants think they are the sacrificial cows that get herded over to the camps, could be.

I've never had in-home attacks when I had Lakeview. Kinda bums me out; would be fun to have a few heads to bash in on occasion.

Since this is Heathfire-related, this only happens in Hearthfire homes, not vanilla ones?

I seem to always get two freebies outside Windstad Manor. A housewarming gift, perhaps?

They do come in handy, though.
