Are our Items Safe?

Post » Thu Dec 03, 2015 12:53 am

Hey guys,

Hope you are all enjoying the wasteland as much as myself!

I am not new to Fallout but new to the forums here, and I have a question, if you would be so kind as to hear and possibly answer (fingers crossed). I'm holed up in Red Rocket Station as my homebase (like many others) and my trusty canine alerted me to a conflict. There we're two Supermutants attacking my abode. They were swifty dealt with, however. But this had me wondering, as I found a note on one of them that read;

"Kill

Loot

Return"

...Or something to that effect. Now, I have constructed boxes, etc..that I keep my treasures in. Are these actually safe from raiders and the like? can they loot my boxes? With all my armour, guns and goodies? I have quite some hoard here.

Basically am I at risk, while I am away from my homestead, of coming back and seeing everything gone?

I am actually fine with this, no complaints. But would like a heads up. I think if this risk is a case, it's going to up the ante a little :)

Travel safe wanderers!

Regards!

The only thing I have heard of them stealing is the Power Armor, make sure you take out the power source.

The only place I have stored anything is Sanctuary and I have not built that into a Settlement so hopefully I get no attacks and hence, no looting.

Supposedly as long as you don't set up crops or water settlers won't arrive. And your player home should be safe. However for actual settlements I suggest storing your loot somewhere safe where raiders or other mobs and NPCs won't have access to them.

Thanks guys. I've not planted crops or water sources at Red Rocket. I was paranoid that the settlers in Sanctuary would raid my stuff. I thought Red Rocket would be a small haven. Power armour has no cells in it to power it now, but they are stored in the back room. Just hoping my Fatman and mini guns are safe from raider loot near end game. We shall see.

I'm not turning Red Rocket into s settlement. It's just me and Dogmeat :)

I reckon Red Rocket would be a great location for a settlement. Might be a tough one to defend compared to Sanctuary though.

I can't get anymore then five NPCs to live at Sanctuary. But nonetheless, built my own house, and stored all my items there. I've not had anything disappear yet, My game time is nearly 2days now. I've seen a lot of things spawn back in the first few places I explored at the start, But again, I've not had anyone try to steal my power armor, or weapons, or anything yet. I even decorated my home that I made from scratch with items all over for decoration and nothing has walked off yet.

I live at the garage in Sanctuary, I've placed a bed next to the power armour with a chest at the bottom... Placed some military fatigues on the chest, two mini-guns next to the power armour and a few pistols around the house... No one has touched anything as of yet...

What sort of boxes? I wonder if they're safe storage from the game, not looters...you have to be careful in Beth games what containers you use, at least in previous titles. I store all of my stuff in the workshop menu that's shared between the crafting stations, it seems to be safe from deletion and looting.

Lone occupant of Red Rocket besides Dogmeat. Dropped several floor safes on the floor inside that backroom with the desk that I converted into a bedroom. Stored all my valuables (caps, fusion core,, special armor/trophies, precious metals, collectibles etc) and left the joint for 4 days. Returned to find zero issues. Same deal for my power armor suits in the garage. Like this set up best since I've left the Sanctuary as a pure NPC settlement across the bridge. None of the NPCs there ever forage or bother me at the Rocket.

This I understand. I went through this with Skyrim. All my things are stored in containers that I have constructed through the workshop. I have a dresser for armour. A suitcase for garments, tool box for ammo, metal case thing for weapons etc.. But all made by me. Not what was already there. If you follow my wind.

Ha, we're two in the bush! Sounds like you have similar ideas. A place to call your own without the bother of any npcs? Yep!

That note you found on the mutants, are found on mutants all over the commonwealth. Atleast I found it on several mutants I killed around the wastes. So I don't think it was directed to you :P

I also took up abode at Red Rocket, was a bit paranoid about getting raided so I've fortified the place, cleared the area of junk and built a wire fence all the way round and I've blocked the garage door and both side doors with metal walls on the outside and big cupboards on the inside.

Only the door on the front of the building is accessible and when I leave or sleep I slide another piece of metal wall across it.

Wastelands a dangerous place so uninvited visitors get shot and then severely questioned, twice.
