Are people being fired for this?

Post » Tue Apr 13, 2010 7:21 am

I don't know who's ultimately responsible for this, but they should be ashamed and miserable right now. I don't know whether it should be someone at Obsidian or Bethesda, or both, but this can't go unpunished. I'm tired of hearing excuses and false promises. This crap's not getting fixed and everyone knows it.

Also, how do you think Bethesda should make this up to us? They owe us something. I don't think free DLC is even gonna cut it, since that's just gonna be broken too.

Fired for what? A great game that runs nearly flawlessly for me and is far larger than most other wastes of money of its kind (other video games) constitutes firing who made this? Also, no, Bethesda owes nothing.

Flawlessly? I'm calling BS there.

There's no way you could have played this game for any extended period of time and not experienced a single problem. I can quite believe that some people are experiencing less problems than others, since there are obviously trigger points that cause the problems to occur. But no problems at all? With this game? Not a chance. Not unless some sort of fairy flew into the factory where the discs were being printed and used it's fairy magic to make your disc work, then neglected to fix everybody elses.

Lol what? The fairy theory is equally as plausable as the idea of this game working flawlessly.

On topic though.. No I don't think anybody deserves to be fired for this. Someone should recieve lashes, but that's where I'd draw the line. And unfortunately neither Obsidian or Bethesda owe us anything, legally, at this point. At least not to my knowledge, which as always is limited. But if a single one of either company's employees has even a hint of moral sensibility, they'll be working on a patch.

nearly flawlessly

I had one crash about 35 hours of play time ago and another one at Caesar's Camp, but that is the extent of my problems.

Not all games come out bug free. There have been much buggier games, such as Fallout 2, and you didn't hear people complaining this much back then.

No one should be fired for releasing a buggy game. If people were, then there would not be any video games left in existence because everyone in the game industry would be fired. EVERY GAME HAS BUGS.

Also, Bethesda/Obsidian don't owe us anything, and it's ridiculous to even think that they do.

They owe you? I don't really see how they owe you anything... They didn't sign a contact with you personally saying this is going to be the best, most bug free game you have every played or we'll throw in some free [censored]. They made a game, you bought it, it wasn't great, for you at least, others have reported it playing fine. End of story. They don't need to do anything, they already have your money. Now if they want repeat customers they will make it better, but that is just them trying to make money, not them trying to make a good game for you. They don't owe you anything.

The way i see it is there are two choices.
1) Don't buy a game from them again 1 was pretty buggy.
2) Be more careful with their next game and wait a while before buying it to see the reviews.

Either way would you PLEASE stop [censored]ing on a forum because your game doesn't work perfectally. SO they made a buggy game, either GET OVER IT or at least GTFO and let me browse the forums in peace without seeing a raging nerd post every other topic.

Also what he ^^ said :P

I'm just wondering why people with no issues with the games browse the technical issues forums blasting people for having problems with their games and posting about it. Isn't that why we have these forums, so we can air out grievances in the hopes the company will browse through them (maybe) and possibly remember these issues and fix them. I'm not sure about the firing thing either but whoever was in charge of the final say as to whether they should release a buggy game should be demoted or take a pay cut, at least until the major bugs are fixed. Just a show of customer support you know. It is a great game BUT there are way too many bugs.
And now, somebody blast me for being anti-Bethesda/Obsidian...even though I'm not.

I don't think anyone should be fired ... or even lashed ... well, maybe lashed ... LOL!

Seriously, though, as much as I HATE saying this ... and some of you know how vocal I was about the crashing/freezing issue ... I was able to complete my game on our new 160GB PS3 Slim.
Yeah, I thought it was a waste of money but I finished my game (you guys can look up my PSN: JaymesB and see the times between completion!) and now start another game while my boyfriend works in to his 80th or so hour. He's had like three or maybe for crashes and I had ZERO from my loaded save and ZERO in my new game.

I don't know anything about computers or the inner workings of the Playstation so I can't say why the game would work on one console (our 160gb slim) and not another (our 60gb launch era fat) but what I can say is that this game is AWESOME!
Once I was able to play, I have absolutely loved the stories and I couldn't wait to get back in after watching my NCR ending so that I can tackle it from another perspective.

So, yeah ... wanting somebody fired?
No way.

I sat through the credits and I saw how many people put so much time and effort in to this game.
FO:NV is buggy and a hazard for older PS3 systems but I honestly think that the guys and girls working on this game busted their a$$ to make the best game they could.
Would I slap one or two of them if I could? Helz yeah! Still, I'd also buy them a cup of coffee cuz this game is just plain funtastic.

Right.. I take back the lashes comment. Given the oppertunity I'd set aside the whip, pick you up by the ankles, and beat them to a pulp with your three inch thick skull.

This is honestly the most ridiculous post I have ever seen. I've made some crackers myself, but this tops every one. I'd report you right now, but it wouldn't be right considering how I'm currently "flaming" you and all. Although, mods, this is tame for me lol. But really, I had to get my point across here.

You're in the Fallout: New Vegas Hardware and Software Issues forum. You're either an empty headed moron or you're in here looking to start a fight.

Edit: Looks like DragoNate beat me to the punch and somehow managed to remain civilized. That's self control at it's very best mate :P

I don't agree that someone should be fired but I can completely see where the OP is coming from. Yes, games do get released with bugs, however they don't get released in Beta state. which this game I would say pretty much was. The problem is, is that it just seems like they didn't have any play-testers work on the game (maybe they did and this is somehow better than what they experienced during testing) Also to those that are in here claiming that you don't have issues and are starting fights etc. why are you even in this section of the forums if you don't have issues. Either you are having issues and you just don't want to admit it for some odd reason, or your here just to stir the pot. We never will see any sort of compensation for what has happened with this game, the only thing that people can do to really prevent something like this from happening again is to just not purchase a product from them again in the future or like Pupp said wait a while after the game is released before purchasing.

Oh and Pupp waiting for reviews isn't going to necessarily help seeing as though this game got pretty damn good reviews and the bugs aren't really a main point in any of them, which they should be so your number 2 doesn't really work.

Fired,no.Beaten like a red-headed stepchild on a Sunday-yes I hope. C'mon people this is ridiculous. Why should we be punished for someone elses mistakes? I love Oblivion and Fallout 3 (older Fallouts can kiss my ass, they svck.) and had very few issues with them. In fact, I liked them so nice I bought them twice.I have the PS3 Fallout 3 and the PS3 Oblivion GoTYE but when my PS3 caught the vers.3 glitch I needed something to play so I bought the PC versions of each, both being GoTYE and nothing wrong with either. That's my mistake. I ASSUMED that all previous issues with the other big Beth/Obs games had been cleaned up b4 they put NV out using the same scheme but,of,course, I was wrong. I just couldn't stop myself from swiping my debit card in the machine at Wal-Mart,and then before I knew it,I was playing it.And b4 I knew it,it had a tardgasm and froze, again, and again, and again. I should've waited. But boy,do I ever love my killin'.

Well, the vast majority doesn't have (or notice) the problems and doesn't post here either. Some of them just feel a need to clarify that the game is not broken per se. This helps the developers to isolate the true problem, and thus the vocal minority to get their problems fixed. "This crap's not getting fixed and everyone knows it." is not exactly the kind of bug report that will or can be processed very quickly.

This crap's not getting fixed and everyone knows it.

A patch was recently released for the PC, patches take longer to release on consoles since they need to go through MS's/Sony's approval process.

I understand that you're frustrated but threads like this don't help matters and do little more than congest the forum.
