Are PC players really console gamers at heart?

Post » Wed Jul 28, 2010 12:38 am

This is more for fun, but seeing as how the PC community likes to knock on the console gamers I think it's only fair. Lots of PC players make fun of consoles and their limitability. So why do PC players need achievements then? I thought this was a console gimmick. So how come PC players want a console gimmick? Does this actually mean there is something that PC games couldn't do? Were PC players getting jealous over something that was a console gimmick? I find this very funny.

Yes I know lots of PC players do not care for achievements, but many do. Why is this? I never seen the purpose of achievements. I stick to consoles now because I am tired of upgrading my PC to play games all the time.

So how come I am reading how giddy PC players are because Fallout New Vegas has achievements for the PC or how Civ V has achievements as well.

So do people really think PC needs achievements?

My first poll is for fun. My second poll is for personal taste, and the third poll is does it actually belong to the PC, dosn' t matter if you like it or not.

I voted that it dosn't belong to the PC because PC is suppior. Just having fun. I am a console player

I voted no for personal taste becasue I don't care for achievements.

I voted yes, it does belong to PC as well because for some people they do like them so why do PC have to be without.

This is not for a console war. My actuall question is do PC need acheivements and if so why. I thought we on the Bethesda forum are mature enough to have some fun, but keep it civil and not flame.

Well PC's were the first to have achievements.... Unless you mean the crap MS suggests game developers add on.

Yes, it is.

No, I don't.

As I understand it, and someone will correct me if I am wrong, "achievements" in consoles are a way for players to get points on their respective console platforms, and they use those points to get goodies, correct?

As for the "achievements" themselves, they can be added to PC games. Matter of fact, there are plenty of computer games that have "achievements" . The difference is, there isn't a central entity keeping track of them.

This starts off with "but seeing as how the PC community likes to knock on the console gamers I think it's only fair."

And to that I say, "If you see someone knocking on console or pc players, use the report button because our rules forbid it."

This thread has nowhere to go but down from that statement because well, that sentence is pretty much flaming/flamebaiting pc players and it's just not allowed.

We don't do console/platform battles here so this is closed. :)
