Are reporters abusive?

When reporters keep asking Todd Howard

"Can I ride a dragon?"

"Will there be spears?"

"Will there be horses?"

IMO they are exhibiting extremely abusive behavior and should be flogged

I'm REALLY not sure if I can post this here, and if that's the case I will be more than happy to remove the link, but I think that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6HyXCHndmk had quite a few parts that were completely uncalled for.

Reporters are also tend to attack a given topic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKzF173GqTU Stupid, stupid, stupid. Off topic: LOL @ "Statistics show the average gamer is an adolescent male" wrong-o lady, average is thirty-five.

Wait! I haven't seen this interview...to the internet, away! :twirl:

Edit: Also love watching political talk shows like the one above :D I'm fairly neutral in my political beliefs but some of that stuff is more intense than a soap opera.

Ya Bill there is one of the few news people that really irritates the hell outta me. He just seems very abusive towards people and he only seems happy when he is the one that gets to talk. This on top of the fact he seems to want the person being interviewed to give the answer O'Reilly wants. If he doesn't get that answer or anything close to it he becomes irate and starts throwing a tantrum like a little child.

I think in general, reporters tend to go for flash and ratings at the expense of the interviewee. Regardless of the situation.
I don't think reporters are interested at all in the facts involved, and this trend isn't new. This had made journalism a less respected profession that it formerly was.

As far as Weiner, I thought his sarcasm worked well, made the reporter look like a tool in the end. He tried to explain that images of him could have been shopped or altered, but the reporter wouldn't let him get an word in edgewise without agressive accusations.
Plus, Weiner's gained a vast amount of supporters on Twitter So he was able to have some good out of the bad.

The problem is that effective reporters can't be "polite."

To get the real story, you have to bully your way to it. Those with real skill can bully to the truth without being unprofessional about it, but the simple fact is that if you handle your subject with kid gloves, you won't get the real story. If you are aggressive enough to be effective at getting to the real story, you'll be painted as a bully by those who don't approve your exposing the truth.

Reporters are supposed to report facts. Unfortunatly, the facts given to them are often modified. For me, this is the worst abuse they are doing.

This is why I love John Stewart.

He's the single best reporter (if you consider him as such, rather than a TV personality), just because he examines both sides and actually uses *gasp* LOGIC.

Bill O'reilly annoys the hell out of me as well, he's an idiot.

Mighty general question is very general.

It obviously depends on the reporter and on what is being reported. This usually happens when reporters hassle politicians.

Which is something politicians should be able to handle anyway, they argue for a living, you'd think being good at it would be part of the job description.

There's a difference between debate on a show and being personally attacked during it. The two don't inherently go together.

Take Bill O'Reilly as an example: He couldn't care less what (in this example) I think (assuming he's interviewing me), rather, he cares more about who I hung out with ten years ago at a coffee shop. And not only will he focus on that specifically, he'll also criticize me because of who I was friends with. Never mind that myself and the person I knew ten years ago have two completely different views.

In America.... Yes. On the news they get to the scene ask a few people about the situation, think they got the whole story, confuse people, and the people that actually know the situation that aren't allowed to tell them turn them off. I rarely watch the news anymore because I am tired of hearing it "First hand by a reporter." I usually wait to get interested in a topic until it is actually confirmed a couple weeks later or when there has been enough time for people to figure out what is actually going on.
