Are we.... spoiled?

Why?

I'm guessing because it turned Dragon Age into more of a really bad anime.

No game is perfect. But Skyrim will AT LEAST be one of the best games of the year. Bethesda has achieved this 3 times before. :tes: :fallout:

I don't doubt that Skyrim will be great because the only thing that Bethesda can do to make it bad is make the game smaller than Oblivion.

They have nothing to do except improve upon that game. All that I've heard about Skyrim is improvements on the old system, and I think that over-hyping this game is definitely well-deserved.

If you don't feel past games had glaring issues (all titles included) or that you're not worried such aspects will return in future games, then kudos to you, I don't see anyone on the forums overly criticising Optimists for their reasonings, but just as you have your reasons for feeling the way you do, so do others in theres for good or bad they are no less human beings than you and their reasonings are no less valid than yours

and I think if people would get that through their thick skulls on the forums. there would be less of a Divide here.....I mean....ffs its a Forums not a Kumbya love circle, atleast on these forums the level of trolls and uncivility are low even during heated Arguments.....

Nothing exempts Skyrim from having issues, nothing what so ever. if we were spoiled one thing would probably happen

people would have a wealth of information to gnaw on and actually discuss since there would not be a whole lot of Ambiguity and Opinions as far as what is and what isnt wouldnt matter because clear and coincies information is availibe

I loved Oblivion a tiny more than Morrowind but I love them both, even if Skyrim is a disappointment, it's okay I love Beth wether it's a good game or not.. I still have TES: IV and TES:III

I'm confident that Skyrim will turn out to meet my expectations. They've learned what they did wrong in Oblivion -- particularly level-scaling. My last character is out in the wilderness being chased by bears he can't kill . . .

I loved Oblivion because it gave me impressive scenery to wander around (particularly with Full natural mods). I'm positive that Skyrim will be up to my expectations for that matters, so I'm not anxious. I know Skyrim will become the best TES game I've played so far... until TES VI, that it :)

The game may be bleak and sterile. The gameplay may stink like Rouge Warrior. The story may be more cliche than anything you can think of. But the game as a whole will be great. The game is Skyrim. They are Bethesda. The fiercest foes rout when they hear triumph's shout. That's what they will do come 11-11-11. This is the year of Skyrim my brothers. :grad:

Fear not for if it is perfect. Fear that it shall change from what it is. That it shall change from Skyrim into something else. As long as it is Bethesda and the Elder Scrolls we will be satisfied.

I love to browse the forum, dont get me wrong... but it does make me wonder. Are we being spoiled rotten? I see people claim Oblivion was a bad game JUST because of a few minor flaws, and same with Morrowind. I have a huge appreciation for games and the intense work that goes into making them, I see them as an art and many deserve a little bit of a deep look, so little flaws won't bother me. But it just sounds like we expect too much from precious Skyrim that it seems we are trying to put ourselves in a position to throw a disappointed tantrum. Are we even going to be able to accept the game if it's NOT perfect?

one word... trolls. they just say things like that because they want people to throw knowledge at them. think about it. if i say your worthless and you don't know im messing with you, you might tell me about your job. i say something like "how do i really know you're a _" long story short i contribute absolutely nothing to the conversation while you bless me with tons of conversation worthy information. stupid people who think they're smart do it to get smart people to tell them stuff they're to lazy to look up

I'm just happy that Skyrim is an improvement over Oblivion. I could care less if X amount of games have better graphics, combat, whatever. They will never have the gameplay that I can only experience in an ES game.

oblivion wasn't "bad," it just had a thousand "little flaws" that needed a modder's touch. fallout 3 was a vast improvement to game mechanics, showing bethesda had learned their lesson, and i fully expect skyrim to have much less "little flaws."

As long as it isnt a let down like Brink i will be very happy

FPS games are still way out of Bethesda's realm right now. Fallout 3 does not fall into that category either. I don't trust any FPS games made by bethesda specifically and exclusively. I am, however, excited for Rage because of ID. I do know that Bethesda is king when it comes to RPGs though and I have no doubt that they will make me happy. Will they fix every issue I had with previous titles? No. Will I care enough to not play? No. As long as they always strive to better their previous title then I am happy.

Brink was developed by Splash Damage, though. Publishing is not developing, that's why there is a distinction between the two.

Personally I think we'll see allot of people whinge about the stats being missing and the in ability to grow hair...

I've played both Morrowind and Oblivion. One isn't better then the other. They're both very different games.

Do any of you remember the Daggerfall fans reaction to Morrowind during the elder days? No? Its because the majority have gotten over it. And over the years Morrowind has become idolized. The same will happend with Oblivion, just watch.

This thought also appeared in my head, during one of discussions.
But there is perfect explanation for it (or at least acceptable one)
Each next game need to be improvement over previous one, but unfortunately TES series is stomping in one place
TES2>TES3
World size was decreased, and number of interaction with game world was smaller (numerous examples), also character creation was simplified
on the other hand graphics were improved, game world became more packed, and role system was actually polished (sometimes it seems that too much, but still)

TES3>TES4
World size was decreased once more (slightly), role system was simplified, quicktravelling system was bad, and level-scaling was even worse
But once again graphics and animations were improved, NPCs started to resemble actual human beings

So for me reason is clear- we get better graphics and animations with each new game, but price for that is decreased game world and simplifying of role system and game world interaction
And since I'm not graphics biach, I don't think this exchange is fair.
