Are we supposed to end with ONE faction?

Post » Tue Mar 22, 2016 11:21 am

Because I ended up with two... I followed the BoS up until it was time to power up the huge robot, but then decided to go with Minutemen after all. Now the Institute and the Railroad are wiped out, but BoS and Minutemen are still around. The minutemen call me general and the BoS tell me things like 'How about including your brothers next time you run an op' and such so they still see me as an ally. Also, i still can do the Preston garvey quests and the BoS apprentice quests.

Did I glitch it out or is this just one of the possible outcomes?

It's one of the possible outcomes. The Minutemen ending only requires you destroy the Institute - both the Railroad and Brotherhood of Steel will have dialog about the Minutemen ending if they're around.

As the MM its possible to finish with both the RR and BOS stil in existance, and not hostile to each other, as well as your ending and one where its the BOS that are wiped out.

There's a few suggestions in this thread http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1597588-spoilers-getting-banished-spoilers/%C2%A0as to how to achieve he best ending in terms of how far down each of the factions questlines (quite a long way it seems!) you can go and still be able to back out of creating open conflict between the survivors and finish as a MM.

Cool, thanks :) Wish I had known about not having to kill the RR.

No matter which faction you side with, you will always end up with at least two alive since the Minutemen are a "neutral" faction that you can't kill.

Is it possible to end with one (just the MM)?

Like so:

Blow the Institute

Blow the Prywdwen/BOS

???? the Railroad

I've read the RR are not keen on you if you don't sound the alert for evacuation, is it possible to go full on hostile with them as well?

I haven't done it, but I have heard that you can end it with just the MM alive. Either way, you will have to make enemies with all of the other factions in order to get them out of the picture. I doubt that the MM would ask you to kill the RR members, but...it will have to be done somehow. Someone correct me if I am wrong... I will admit I haven't even beaten the main story in any form, yet.

It's possible to kill off the BoS after siding with them so only the MM remains.

You can do this by siding with the BoS to destroy the RR and INS but then attack and kill as many BoS afterwards to incite them (Suggest attacking Prydwen to get maximum loot.)

Then you can go through a series of MM objectives to finally wipe them out.

Is there a need to keep all the factions alive would be my question. I get the mentality that people want to keep as many NPCs as possible, but from the roleplaying standpoint, siding with who align with you the best as well as which group the Commonwealth will benefit the most out of everything. With the BoS ending, while the RR is dead, you can also being promoted to Sentinel which make you the second highest in command after Maxson. Once Maxson leaves for the capital, you would be the one in charge and could do more good as a BoS member. The RR is also in a dozen and they would have disbanded in every ending, so having them alive or dead wouldn't make a difference long term.

There is a "hidden" quest were you could actually challenge Maxson for the leadership and become the Elder. Only accessible via console commands though since it was removed from regular play.

But yes at the moment it's only possible to only have three of the four factions alive at the end of the main quest.

Might be some future content that changes that though.

Well my chosen ending is currently with BOS and RR alive purely for getting random radiants from them - BOS send me to clear random locations of enemies and RR sends me to kill BOS (they never go hostile, its definately glitched here for me) - I can destroy the BOS if I choose to by attacking them relentlessly and triggering the MM attack on the Prydwen but I think the RR are now stuck in the game as I've missed by chance to destroy them.

I do like the idea of wiping the slate clean and destroying all factions leaving only the MM to rebuild the Commonwealth, from a completionist POV doing all faction missions up to the point of no return then destroying them one by one would be a good way of farming XP.

I'm going to try it, Ive got 200+ hrs on my lomgest played character but doing things over/different appeals to me.

Maybe in my current playthrough since I turned down Preston, so there is no MM faction just Preston endlessly walking around Sanctuary.

You can become enemy with any faction if you kill a named member. If you kill Garrus or Tinker Tom, you will become enemy with the Railroad regardless. The same as if you kill Haylen or Rhys or any named member from the BoS.
