Are we sure the Dwemer are all gone?

There was a certain book in Morrowind called "A Children's Anuad"... but in its text it clearly states the Dwemer are also called "The Deep Ones".

History says the Dwemer disappeared during the Battle of Red Mountain (year 1E 700). Yet at the dawn of the 4E or fourth age, the character played in the Oblivion game stumbles on the hamlet called Hackdirt, whose people say their forefathers have had run-ins with people called the Deep Ones in the caverns below town. They also convenently left a text behind, now proudly displayed in thier local temple, calle the Bible of the Deep Ones. The text is entirely in runes. You cannot understand them.

Now it's true you can roam far and wide in confidence you'll not run into another Dwemer, unless Yagrum Bagarn is still around somewhere. But if what happened in Hackdirt is indeed Dwemer-related, the race has become quite evil, demanding blood sacrifices and such. I suppose you could expect such, if Kagranac's tools and the heart of Lorkhan influenced their very being when they "disappeared".

How does this "Bible of the Deep Ones" relate the the Dwemer then? Is this a sign the Dwemer are trying to re-enter the world from whatever plane they currently are? Can we be entirely sure all the Dwemer are gone? Exactly how dangerous is that book in the wrong hands?

Is this all merely a strong coincidence? You're thoughts?...

At this point, I think devs need to personally go to each person's house and tell them the dwemer absorbed themselves to the Numidium. Because it seems this subject keeps popping up.

What you saw in Hackdirt was nothing more than a giant easter egg on Lovecraft, particularly the story "The Shadow Over Innsmouth." It shouldn't be taken seriously. Notice how HUGE the eyes are for the guys living underground? It's just like how happens to the human-deep one hybrids, [censored], even going as far as using the creatures of the story's name "Deep Ones."

Hate to tell you...but other then a few keys points in the MQ....there is not alot of deep multi-meaning lore in Oblivion.

I'd bet the names are coincidental. Hackdirt was straight-up Lovecraft, and our current understanding of the Dwemer doesn't jive with this idea.

Pin it to the top of the forum. Somebody should write out a concise post that hits the major points and have it pinned with the title, On Dwemer. Before coming on to the forum it was one of the most fascinating mysterys in TES for me ,and I think a lot of people who don't visit forums feel the same, so as long as people keep signing up, its gonna keep getting asked, regardless of that search button up there.

Yeah but that might create more questions, so better to just throw everything we know at them, then if there are more questions hopefully they will be very interesting.

I don't think that article includes the official absorbacidal answer. It needs to be updated in general as well.
