Are the buzzards back?

Post » Tue Nov 09, 2010 7:43 am

Was wondering if anyone knows if the groups of buzzards will be back. They were a great way to find mid to large sized settlements in FO3 and I personally would like to look to them for clues in the new wasteland area as a guide to new locations.

Probably one of those things you're gonna have to wait and see about.

Personally, I'd love it, sure they were just a script, but it's one of those things that you see, and you go 'Wow, thats a nice touch. Nice job devs'. It adds alot to the immersion that your in a desert.

I almost wish there were vultures following deathclaws kind of like different fish follow sharks in the wild. It would have been a nice touch and given a little bit of a heads up.

It really should... I would like to be able to shoot the birds down for food in hardcoe mode...
Heres hoping in future Fallout/TES games there are smaller critters like squirrels and such running around you can hunt for P= (Also giant birds that can swoop down and attack you >_>)

There needs to be some eagles or hawks in giant form that can attack you from the sky and have nests in high places that you can find full of bones or random junk >_>

Giant buzzards would be friken awesome, an arial target would be a nice change of pace ( aside from the bloatflies)
Bird beaks would make pretty sweet spear tips, too.

You could find settlements by buzzards? Well, damn. That sure would have been useful. :\

Definitely a "yes", in my opinion.

There aren't supposed to be any buzzards... Aren't Birds and Cats extinct in FO1 & 2?

I don't see why birds from the non nuked locations can't migrate to a ripe nuclear wasteland where blood is spilled everyday.

Then, why there's vultures hovering over Megaton in FO3?
If it's extincted in the West Coast, it may have not been extinct in the East Coast..... Things in the East Coast must be different than in the West Coast.
Proof? Look at Megaton. You'll see some vultures hovering above the town, circling  . And Fallout 3 is a canon successor of Fallout 1, and 2. :grad:

The only one thing i hate about Fallout lore is, WHY CATS MUST BE EXTINCT IN AMERICA!! :banghead: :swear:  (In My Opinion..)
It's unfair, and every animal can adapt and survive with it's environment. Though, maybe their bigger cousins (Pumas) maybe still alive......

why are cats extinct? Well, according to a "Life After People" show I saw, cats would multiply like nobodies business. Basically everywhere you turn there would be a wildcat. They would be like radroaches, every corner of every freeking place you went to. Which is both hard to program and would pee off players. So easier to say they are extinct, and not need to deal.

Although - no reason cats couldn't repopulate. Moriarty wasn't born in the Wasteland. I read a log that said "done well for himself since he CAME TO THIS COUNTRY". So obviously, at some point in the last 60 years a boat has arrived on the Eastcoast from Ireland. Why couldn't it have cats onboard? Rats? Mice? etc

Yes, that's plausible...
But, t's already written in the Fallout bible (Why it must be named bible? I don't know  )... Which is a VERY SAD THING :cryvaultboy:
WHY? WHY?! WHY YOU GUYS WHO WROTE MUST BE SO CRUEL!!! :cryvaultboy: :cryvaultboy:
(I don't mean to rant or troll around)

Cats are survivors, as well as Dogs. Dogs and Cats are both survivors, they could survive as good as dogs is. And they could mutate into a freaky monster of doom like the Yao Guai.....

Maybe because the cats hunted prey that was irradiated, and the radiation slowly built up like mercury in predatorial fish, thereby causing sterility and eventual extinction. And maybe the dogs just ate the bodies of deceased or dying humans without the doses of radiation the smelly good-for-nothing (EXCEPT WALKING ON THE HOOD OF MY CAR AND PEEING ANYWHERE THEY DANG WELL PLEASE) cats were ingesting, helping to keep their genes alive and in circulation. (no offense if you're a cat, just stop peeing everywhere)

By that theory people should have become extinct because of ingesting irradiated things.

Actually it's just a model with animation that's placed high up in the air to present the appearance that its up in the sky, its not scripted. I agree it's one of those really nice effects in Fallout3 that adds alot to immersion, and it was in the Fallout3 master file. My GECKulation is that it get put into New Vegas, either directly (as it was in Fallout 3) or modified, but the effect was too-good for it to have been omitted IMHO.
