are the greybeards even killable?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 8:53 pm

i already completed the main quest... just getting that out of the way now.

i tried killing these guys twice... and they just seem unbeatable.

mostly because they like to spam ice form... you cant even recover completely before they freeze you again, and sometimes i find myself waiting 10-20 minutes for my guy to unfreeze... what the hell?

the second time, i attacked borri with two storm thralls, and even summoned odahviing... barely.

my atronachs were destroyed, and odahviing didnt seem to be having much luck from the sounds of it... i was falling down the side of the mountain cause i was frozen solid.

eventually, i broke free... but the camera was stuck, and my character would move around off screen!

that was definitely an interesting glitch... i'd fast travel, and i would be viewing the game world from the map's perspective, basically, but the game was still working as it normally would, i could talk to people, etc... was very weird.

there is first person view, third person view... and the secret god's eye view!

back to the point, though... has anyone managed to kill even one greybeard? if so, do they have anything on them?

Why do you want to kill the greybeards? What have they done to you that warrants death? Just curious since they did help you to understand the way of the voice and gave you a shout that is very useful during battle.... yet you want to kill them.

im not killing them permanently.

see, at the moment, im training my character to level 50, and i am trying to max out a few more of my skills, but in between training sessions, i just wanna go out into the world and have some fun.

so i go on a killing spree and use necromancy to turn people i kill into my puppets.

i just wanna see, just once, if the greybeards are killable, and what possessions they have that you can take from them... can you use their robes?

So reverse pickpocketing is out of the question then.

Nope, they're essential. I just checked CK. They're the elderly version of Legion Commanders

I tried pickpocketing one once. Ended up with the similar results to the op but I got a good look at what they had. One had an interestingly titled book that might be worth reading if you can ever get it. The others had various interesting items on them that I can't remember. Also my pickpocketing skill was pretty low so I don't think it's impossible to steal from them.

All NPCs that are needed to complete a quest are essential (unkillable), its been like this since Oblivion. The Greybeards are an important part of the main quest, so they are essential.

Not the point. Those old guys need to die sooner or later, and they can take their dragonbelches with them.

They are essential, and Arngeir has over 1200 health anyway, so good luck with that.

Why kill the Greybeards? Would you go out and kill your great grandfathers? For what purpose?

Maybe you need to play a Zombie Apocalypse type game if your gamer killing instinct is so high.

Go walk the Reach, the Forsworn like the Battle, they respawn even. (Apologies to those here who are compassionate to the Forsworn). You can have fun high diving at Bard's Leap (now that was fun).

See how long it takes to walk to every dragon mount, or to every giant camp.

unfortunately no...my mage has had his eyes on their robes the moment he met them but they are immortal bastards with no backup robes anywhere

you can use their immortality to sneak attack them with arrows and boost both skills ;)
