...what you could call Aedric artifacts?
...what you could call Aedric artifacts?
I'd say so, yes.
Each piece has been blessed by at least one of the nine divines.
Some other notable ones are the Staff of Magnus, Auriel's bow, his shield, Stendarr's Hammer, Lord's Mail and of course, the Amulet of Kings!
Being specific: he is revered by the Altmer, and thus is most likely considered an "Ancestor" - i.e., an Aedra (a term originating in Aldmeri culture; arguably misapplied in Imperial culture). His "ancestral line" is ideological, in his legacy rather than by physical descendents. I'm guessing that to Altmer, this distinction is sometimes a fuzzy one. You could maybe accuse me of splitting hairs here.
Magnus is obviously not one of the Imperial "Divines", though. He's also not a Magne-Ge in my books, as they are the "get of Magnus" - the spirits who followed in the Breaking, not Magnus himself.
Also, on the Amulet of Kings: that depends who you believe... did the Ayleids make it, or Shezarr, or Akatosh, or the Alessians themselves, with the ambiguous divine component a later complication?
I know ESO throws in the possibility of the Amulet of Kings being made when Lorkhan's blood fell into an Ayleid well or something.
But yeah they are Aedric artifacts I guess, though I'm sure they don't have the same relationship that a Daedra has with his artifact. Speaking of, I just found out that Auriel's Bow in Skyrim is considered a Daedric artifact.. que?
Auriel's Bow being Daedric was, IIRC, a dev mis-speak. Especially since "Daedric" and "the Aedric" are phonetically very similar.
I forget. I think it's in a book.
Perhaps. We know her soul is in there eventually.
Unless it was freshly and magically preserved within a magical Ayleid well.
Not that I subscribe to the theory personally, but it's nice to have some new takes.
