Are there any active Morrowind forums anymore?

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 1:42 am

Hello. I'm wondering if there's an active, or even thriving online Morrowind community anywhere? The board here seems pretty dead, with maybe one or two new topics a day. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a good website yet...the closest I've probably gotten is UESP's Morrowind forums.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Fliggerty's forums are less active than gamesas. Really the activity is in modding, and general chatting is usually found on IRC channels.

#morrowind on irc.chatspike.net is an active IRC channel IIRC, lots of modders and people who just like Morrowind visit there. If you haven't used IRC before, be patient when waiting for replies, people might be AFK or not paying attention at the time. And if you want to talk about something then just start a conversation if there is none.

it is slow here, but it does move. If I post something, I almost always have a few responses by later in the day. The mod forum is the most active, for obvious reasons

The whole gamesas forums are dead lately, the modding board is a bit more active.

Historically speaking, did the forums get a lot less active when Oblivion was released, and then activity increased as the new release became less new? My hope is that, perhaps as Skyrim loses some of its new-game shine people will get bored of it and start coming back to the Morrowind forums, and be here until the next TES is released.

Morrowind fans are pretty die-hard by now, at a guess Skyrim only effected it for a month or two. Activity waxes and wanes, and it's waning at the moment.
Stick around and chat, it promotes activity from others. The more people that do, the quicker it'll start showing activity from more people again.

I have been a forum user for a long time, but I only get on here when I play any of the TES games... It used to be crazy here, after about 10 minutes, your thread would be on the next page! But I think the reason why it's pretty dead now is because Bethesda changed the layout of their website, since Skyrim came out... It took me 15 minutes actually Googling to find this site!! I wish they would just put a link to the forums on the main TES website. It would be much much easier to find and bring in more traffic... :) At least that's what I think?

Before Oblivion was released there wasn't many places for TES fans to hang out other than Morrowind forums, many of whom had been finished with Morrowind long before Oblivion and were passing time until the new game was launched. A lot of Morrowind fans bought Oblivion in the hope it would be better ,but for me i found going from a heavily modded morrowind to a vanilla Oblivion was too much of a backward leap and never took to it and it wasn't long before other disappointed morrowind fans also started trickling back.

i think people that are naturally predisposed towards playing classical RPG's will always be drawn to Morrowind if only because there are no alternatives, Thanks to the mods , Morrowind is steadily getting bigger and better and will be extremely difficult for rival game to match the depth and diversity a modded Morrowind can offer. Even theTolkein and Dungeons and Dragons franchises have so far failed to spawn a worthy contender.

If we want more people to play the game then it is up to us too make the game more attractive to gamers, similarly if we want more people to visit the forums it is up to us to make the forums interesting perhaps by making an effort to think up plenty of fresh , interesting , amusing ,intelligent topics. It is no good sitting about rehashing the same few topics over and over , year after year, we have to make an effort else it isn't going to happen.

Yes, activity decreased significantly when Oblivion was released. And I'd say there was a slight upturn in activity after a few weeks. But it didn't last.
