Are there any Homosixuals in Tamriel?

Post » Mon Jan 17, 2011 6:36 am

Seriously, I'm curious is there ANY records of gay people in Tamriel? Nothing political, just asking do they just not exist like children and fat people?

Also if there are is it socially accepted? Or are all men both gay and straight? This is all serious.

I have not noticed any same six couples, but I've also haven't noticed any interracial couples either. Though I'm sure there has to be.

There are interracial couples, including the Bosmer Hasathil and her Nord husband in Anvil. Queen Aubk-i is a Redguard married to an elf if I remember right.

Well, sorta. There are female Bouyant Armigers, and Vivec is both genders, so...

Gothryd isn't an elf. His dad was shagging an elf, but Gothryd's mom wasn't an elf.

They haven't been witnessed, but then again neither have pregnant women or birds. There's no reason to suppose they don't exist, though; we just haven't met any.

Right, sorry. Princess Aubk-i married Prince Gothryd in or before "Daggerfall", but he wasn't a mer.

The great thing about Morrowind is that it suggested all kinds of things -some of them sixual- without linking them explicitly to any IRL culture or contemporary political movement.

Serjo,

Irregardldss of whether Vivec would technically count as homosixual due to his being a hermaphrodite, the Invisible Warrior-Poet of Vvardenfell has objectively demonstrated sixual desires for mortal males (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Buoyant_Armiger), immortal females (http://www.imperial-library.info/mwbooks/lessons.shtml#9, Daedra of both male (http://www.imperial-library.info/mwbooks/lessons.shtml#14) and female (the [censored] of Azura in http://www.imperial-library.info/characters/trial_vivec.shtml), and various and sundry monsters of questionable gender and symbolic existence.

Vivec is six incarnate.

On the subject of interracial couples:
Heinrich Oaken-Hull (Nord) and his wife whose name I don't know, a Bosmer;
Glistel (Dark Elf) and Melintus Ancrus (Breton) - though their relationship might be strictly business rather than social.

There's not many, but there's at least those two. Aside from that most couples are homogenous even down to type - you don't see a lot of Imperial-Redguard or Breton-Nord pairings, nor any mixing of different Elven races. Orcs seem to stick to Orcs for the most part (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Uzul_gro-Grulam being the only exception I know of), and the beast races tend to keep to their own kind as well; I know of no Khajiit-Argonian couples, nor have I heard of any Khajiit or Argonians seeking out an Orc, Elf, or Human for relations.

Hmmm, why is it that when I read that title, some Daedric Princes, and maybe Vivec, immediately comes into mind?

Barenziah has had quite a few partners in her time as well. She has been with a khajiit (with graphical presentation in DF), breton, Tiber Septim, maybe some nords, and her native species the dunmer.

There was an imperial cult quest when someone embezzled some stuff from a guy in ebonheart, you had to track the guy down to sadrith mora. He was a dark elf, but he was having an affair with a high elf (he wanted to take the money and go traveling with her)

On the subject of gay people in Tamriel, there's also Viranus Donton in Oblivion, who seems to have quite a crush on a fellow Fighters Guild member. Oblivion also has the Littes, a Redguard-Breton couple in Chorrol.

Bouyant Armigers, by MK's account.

Slightly tangential question: this fact comes from a forum post, then? I'd never been able to find a reference to it in the actual game.

It's from a forum post.

Though their name, Floating Friends, and the display of great love and duty and subsequent marriage in http://www.imperial-library.info/mwbooks/lessons.shtml#24 should be plenty of suggestion.

Heinrich's wife was Hasathil.

As for beast races, in "Morrowind" there was an Argonian and Khajiit couple living in a slave cabin if I remember right. (Though my memory here isn't reliable, since I played MW five years ago.)

The Gray Prince in "Oblivion" was the result of a human father and Orc mother.

Just out of interest, where does the 'Buoyant Armigers all sleep with Vivec' thing come from? Everyone seems to have heard this, but I can't find any source for it in the actual game.

As for interracial couples: in Morrowind there was a Dunmer woman in Sedya Neen who was dating an Imperial taxman (before he was murdered), and I believe the head of the Fighters' Guild in Sadrith Mora (a Nord) was also having a secret affair with a Dunmer.

Gothryd isn't an elf. His dad was shagging an elf, but Gothryd's mom wasn't an elf.

Plus Aubk-i's marriage to Gothryd was an arranged one, among the peace terms following the War of Betony. Their marriage, if I recall by dialog from Prince Lhotun of Sentinel, helps to cement friendship between the two kingdoms.

Gothryd would probably be a Breton, but there's slight reason to believe he may actually be of the dragonblood. An agent of the Underking says at one point during the main quest, when regarding King Lysandus, that "not even death can hide a true descendant of Tiber Septim from the Underking" or something. Since the Underking is Zurin Arctus, Tiber Septim's battlemage (more or less), this may be more than a fancy metaphor.

Not to mention that nobody mentions such a thing in-game. Of course it might be where it died out over time.

As for interracial couples, there are as Maurrie and Nelos.

Aha, thank you. I had wondered if that passage was the source of the information, though it seemed a bit vague for something everyone seemed so certain about.
