Are there any possible ways to make frost magic more viable

Post » Mon Apr 01, 2013 3:50 pm

I love frost magic. It has such a beautiful but deadly atmosphere, which is perfect for a witch character I might make. Fire and thunder doesn't really fit my character.

Thing is, frost magic is probably rather weak because of almost everybody being resistant to it.
I thought that with the use of enchanting, I could enchant magicka regen and magicka cost to make it more viable.

Ofcourse it also slows down enemies which could be handy aswell.
Anyway, any possibly methods?

There's not much wrong with Frost magic, on my main character, I devoted him to only reading Frost Spell tomes for Destruction (sadly some fire spells are unavoidable)

for frost magic improvement, the only thing I ever really used to make it better was something that made destruction cost nothing O.o
but not everyone likes to go that route.

you could always
Spoiler
get Dukaan in Solstheim if you don't mind wearing a Dragon-priest mask, it increases frost damage.

not much else I could think of besides the method of making Blizzard actually decent.

I tend to put Frost and Damage Stamina on my bow, Di.

I'm a combat archer, so I have to repel the brutes running at me with warhammers.

I prefer not to use Dukaan since it covers the face, and when I make a witch, her face is going to symbolize her. :D

Use it to slow fast enemies and frost storm is quite powerful as it does damage based on its area of effect and how long an enemy stays on the inside of the blast. Frost magic is great for getting out of sticky situations for a mage. Get some magic reductions I use a seventy five percent reduction for destruction to use it effectively. Think about investing in alchemy for a steady supply of magic potions so you do not run out of your casting potential.

Well, my character is a witch (If I will make her in the first place.), so alchemy would be perfect.

Yeah I hate Dukaan too, or any Dragon-priest mask on my Khajiit.. Where'd my Snout go to fit this on my head?!

but yeah, only thing I can suggest is Destruction Magic reduction, unless you can rely on Alchemy potions that increase Destruction Damage. :o

Alchemy is a great tool for any magic user and it fits a witch perfectly. :D
You can also boost destruction damage threw alchemy as well.

If I dual wield frost magic it should make it stronger aswell.
Or maybe use frost magic in the right and shock in the left.
I'll throw in conjuration aswell, two frost atronachs for back up seems wise.

A bit off topic, but now that we mentioned my witch.
I was thinking to go for a dark look to fit the frost magic.
Black hair and black makeup, and black vampire armor. She will wear Skaal armor in colder areas. Seems like a good look to me for this. I already have a character with this kind of appearance, but I am struggling with what build fits her. Maybe a witch is a good idea for her, so I might use that character for this.

You could always use potions that can increase the power of Destruction spells.
