Are there factions again?

Having forks in the road is anoying. Especially when it involves quests. That means that when you make a choice. One quest (content) will be permanently blocked for the playthrough.

I personaly don't want the length of the game to be cut down or the content available. There are ways to put in player choice that doesn't cut much off but gives the player a tough decision for a reward with either ramifications or a positive outcome from the players actions.

The length of the game isn't cut down. The point of a role-playing game is to replay it several times and roleplay as different individuals. Cutting players out of content when they make certain choices means that you have other choices to make the 2nd time around and maybe even third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh time around. Choice and consequence should be a crucial focal point when designing an RPG. If you don't plan on replaying the game a 2nd time then that's on you.

I have like the complete opposite opinion of the op. If they go the route of fallout 3 and skyrim and make all the factions joinable and completeable without consequences, I'm definitely not buying another Bethesda developed game again.

That was what I loved about new Vegas so much, thanks to the quest and faction system the game has huge replay value. Fallout 3 is boring to replay once you know the wasteland, all of the content was exploring, once that's done it just gets dull.

But these are people's opinions, I just really hope they don't go that route.

Why would you want to replay the game if they remove all C&C ?

(or play it the first time if they don't take your agency into account)

The replayability in different roles is one of the main attractions in these games. I played NV through multiple times, trying out different factions and outcomes.

I played Tomb Raider and my biggest gripe was how linear it was - did it once, don't want to do it again....(same thing with Far Cry 3)

Why wouldn't you want factions? I loved choosing between House, NCR and Independent. I also enjoyed helping minor factions like the Kings and destroying the BOS.
