Are There Mods Out There That Fix Some of the Bugs?

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 1:43 am

I remember when I played Fallout 3 years ago there was this memory leak bug that the main patched never fixed but some one made a homemade patch or "mod" that actually fixed the problem. I was wonder if anyone knows of any home made patches already out there that address some of the major issues like FPS drops, crashes, bugged quests, corrupted save files, etc?

I wouldn't expect (nor use) anything bugfix related until official mod tools are released.

Generally anything even remotely called "Unofficial Patch" requires proper tools tools to be created. Since GECK is going to be released Q1 2016 at earliest, I wouldn't expect any good bugfix any time before that.

Besides, let Beth do some of that first, they are hard at work as we speak.

I find it best not to mod or only use a few texture replacement mods at least until the official tools are out. I find it best to let Bethesda or the game developer work on the patches and on the DLC's/Expansions first and then go with mods and unofficial patches then. This gives me time to get an idea on what mods I am interested in as well as time for mods makers to make mods.

That was a joke, right? Beth aren't exactly well known for their fantastic bug quashing abilities. Let's not forget that it took a (IIRC) modder to embarrass them by fixing their (Skyrim) framerate issue for them before they decided to act on it.

Yeah, I think this was the one http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15123/?

That is irrelevant. If the CK was released with the game Arthmoor would be waiting for a couple patches before he started redoing his work. It's too soon to be trying to fix the game when it has many patches coming out in the next few months. Beth just stated that they will be doing them smaller and more often than they did with Skyrim so it's a good idea to wait a bit.

Not really, you stated we should wait for Beth to some of it first, and while I agree they ought to get a chance to fix it, they're not always up on doing things like that, which is why they had to get embarrassed by a modder before they decided to fix the problem with Skyrim. Had that not happened, Beth may never have fixed the problem.

i agree with you here. Even if bethesda will overlook some bugs, they will not overlook everything. Making unofficial patches now, especially as it pertains to scripts, would be silly. Too many things will be changing in the base game. Now, if you enjoy doing your work over and starting from scratch once an update has negated or altered you work, then go ahead. But it is unlikely that there wont be any conflicts
