Are there prefabricated homes in Fallout 4?

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 2:39 am

Has anyone come across a prefabricated house in Fallout 4? I'm trying to figure out where to set up residency. I'm not planning on doing the settlement building, but if there are no houses to buy in game, I may have to set up shop in the Red Rocket Gas Station just down the road from Sanctuary hills.

not to my knowledge and it is hard to tell where a place without despawns might be this early into the game's release. Red rocket is a good choice and you can also get pre made buildings under the metal buildings tab, though i highly advise making your own home at red rocket or a similar place

Red Rocket makes an excellent player home.

Thanks guys. Any info on what the enemy spawns are like around the station, if any?

Some raiders to the north. Some molerats under. Never had anything come calling but I dropped a lot of frag mines around the place. Once I get a random XP award while I was far from home. I got back and noticed one of my mines missing. No dead body though. So not sure. Just remember to take the Fusion Core from your Power Armor. It's good practice no matter where you hang your T-60 helmet.

from what i could tell non existent, though it is a settlement and apparently if you have no defences set up or too little it will be subject to raider attacks, though i've set up 4 turrets in sanctuary and a few fences and no such attack has occurred

You can buy a house in Diamond City and you can get a room in vault 81. Haven't found any else, yet anyway, there might be one in Good Neighbor.

Buy a house in Diamond City it's 2000 caps it has a power armour stand outside and I presume stuff inside but you also can go into edit mode and place your own stuff! :)

Well, there appears to be a bug with the workshop station in the Red Rocket Gas Station. It won't let me build a bed or a foot locker. I have all the material I need, but it won't let me build them.

Be sure that there's not something obstructing the location where you want to build. I had to nudge a skeleton down some stairs at one time because it was preventing me from building a bed. :P

Also, the Starlight Drive In might be something of interest if you just want a spot to call your own. It's in a central location with a workbench in a small cottage and an old diner that might look pretty neat as a place to settle. If that is not to your liking there is also a very small existing concrete room behind the viewscreen on the other side of the plaza and you can even climb up the steps to have a very nice vista at the top. Whle cleaning up the general area for meterials, you might want to quickly scrap those radioactive barrels in the water too. I boarded it over with some wooden floorpanels though because it looked likee a nice place to put some prefabs for a micro community. No Power Armor Rack though, so you'd probably have to build it yourself with the right perks. There's only a workbench in the shack and cooking rack at the concrete room.

Here, I took some screenshots if you want to have a look :P

There was originally water here, but I boarded it up and put some prefab stuff on

The old viewscreen with a small cabin behind it; perfect for a tiny one-room home with just some minor redecorating

This is my (very spartan) interior of the cabin as I was in a rush, but you can get a sense of the size

And this is the view if you climb the stairs with even a chair already there

Hope this helps ;)

EDIT: Oh wow, I completely missed it the first time but there's a second storage room behind the concrete 'bedroom'. So there are actually two separate rooms behind the big viewscreen. I did get attacked by a radroach though, so not sure if that was just once or a recurring spawn. :D

Yea, I figured out the problem. All I had to do was select the object I wanted to build, then move to the area that I wanted to place it.

BTW, nice looking digs you got there.

There needs to be build houses option, this placing each wall individually is useless and takes to long making it pointless to do.

there are prefab houses in the wood and metal structure tier. think two different each at the end of the "prefab" folder.

There are some settlements that provides houses in various stages of ruin that you can add some furniture/containers and so on into.

And I also think you can remove some of the rubble inside as well.

Spoiler
Taffington Boathouse is a quite neat place for instance.

Covenant is an almost complete settlement. Don't even need to build anything. :)

Because you mentioned it I went and checked out the Red Rocket Gas Station a bit more thorough as I previously just breezed through it after picking up Dogmeat. Now I've built a big tower on the roof and 'Power Armor Parking' behind the garage! It's currently my main base of operations. :P

I was wondering the very same thing. Thanks.

I was put off building my own house as well. I would have used Red Rocket but for the buzzing noise the lights make. That would wear on me.

The Diamond City house is a bit cramped and there aren't a lot of things you can really place in it outside of furniture. It does come with a fuse box, though, which is 100 power, so you don't have to worry about generators.

Same here. I'm going to assume it's the turrets I put down at Sanctuary, and that they're happy and safe right now...
