Are there really transformer robots in Skyrim?

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 10:16 pm

I mean I'm not complaining, but it seems a little out of place in a game like this to have terminator spheres rolling around. How are you supposed to kill a robot with a bow and arrow?

The same way we did in Morrowind.

Maybe you should read up on it a little on the UESP. I'll get you a link.

Actually, they've been around for a while. We had Centurions in Morrowind.

Dwemer were the nerds of Tamriel. Highly advanced yet stupid enough to wipe their whole race out.

Don't know your lore, I take it?

It's called a Dwemer construct. The Dwemer were big into Steampunk, having more scientifically advanced than most other civilizations on Tamriel.

Pretty easily. I lost count how many of those things I destroyed in Morrowind. Real fun was summoning one of your own and letting them slug it out. :)

Dwarven Spheres do you mean, and they were in Morrowind also. They are not as outlandish as maybe say magic. :/

That makes sense, I can see nerds doing that.

I figured Morrowind would be the closest thing the OP has heard of, if they didn't know about Dwemer before.

The Dwemer sphere made it's first appearance in Redguard and then it returned in Morrowind. The Dwemer were well known for their devotion to science and they were incredible engineers and craftsmen. The Dwemer spheres aren't their only mechanical beings, there are spider sentries and steam sentries and countless other machinations. It's not out of place, it makes perfect sense with the Dwemer's magical technology.

The steam sentries are the big ones right?
They were quite strong as far as I can remember...I think I have to play Morrowind again before Skyrim is released.

The Dwemer machines were awesome in Morrowind and I'm happy to see them return. They might not have fitted in Oblivion had they been put in there but they worked well for Morrowind, and I'm sure they'll do for Skyrim too.

I, for one, am extremely excited to see how Bethesda reboots the look and feel of the Dwemeri ruins, and all things found within, such as their mechanical constructs. It will almost be like seeing what parts of Morrowind would look like if it were developed now.

Here's hoping the ruins will actually look like places the Dwemer could have lived in, this time.(Well, goes for all ruins, really) :)
