Are there too many weapons?

Actually, there are firearns that are easier to handle compare to the others, and you know what? in most case it is also weaker.

Same Browning Hi-Power, but .45 would be harder to handle compare to the 9mm.

What

Like how a .22 rifle is much easier to handle than, say, a .300win mag. He's saying the guns that are easier to handle generally have less punch, which would, in a very general sense, be true.

Unless of course, you are comparing a matchlock to an AK.

More weapons (guns) in the same calibers that are already present in game, or more of all classes of weapons. I wouldn't mind seeing them try some bows, give us more thrown weapons and would love to see the dart gun back, to use all those new poisons.

I was just thinking yesturday about how awsome it would be if there were bow and arrows in NV. Think about how fun it would be to see like 5 arrows sticking out of a Fiend. Also, i miss the dart gun, that was the best way to deal with Deathclaws in F3

Seriously? I have yet to find at anytime myself short of ammo. I guess if I RPed a totally honest person who never stole anything that might be a problem, but I'm just not sure. Is this really a problem?

You don't want an AK47. Where would you get 7.62x39mm rounds for it? The USA would never allow the import or manufacture of such a communist caliber. You want a "modernized" Kalashnikov as in, the Chinese Assault Rifle.

I'm praying that in the future, Fallout does something on the other side of the ocean. We know that the US was whipped out by missiles more or less. I want to know what happend to China and Russia. I am still praying for a Fallout somewhere there (at least DLC). And when that happens, the AK47 will be my bread and butter :vaultboy:

I've complained about this before and I'll do it again--MORE WEAPONS SCHEMATICS. I would love to see a handful or for that matter a buttload of weapons schematics. These weapons schematics should produce elite and unique armaments, requiring thorough exploration of the wasteland for the parts needed but once found creates a weapon that displays a wicked and ferocious ending for the recipient. While I'm at it, how about booby-trap schematics?.....aahh, think of the fun possibilties. :toughninja:

No one in thier right mind would carry the "Civil Servant" if they could carry something else.

Yeah, something else like a Super Soaker 3000... :) lol ... easier to maintain in harsh desert environments with all that fine sand. Also good for cooling off as you're taking cover, squirting your face, next to the guys clutching their SA-80s as they scream about magazine failures and stoppages. Heh ha. :D

...the military brass wants to ditch the SA-80 for the G-36 but the Government won't let them.

S'probably all about money. They pee'd a lot of money into development of it after countless fails, and they probably don;t want to be seen to admit that they've been wrong all along and are gonna keep throwing more money at it.

- Me thinks something we've gotta remember about the guns in the game is they're a lot like the outfits, we all like a certain look for our different characters. Where my first char was wearing NCR Facewrap Armour, a 1st Recon Beret, and carrying his Sniper and Service Rifles and 10mm - my second female char was wearing Merc Troublemaker gear, with an Old Cowboy Hat, and carrying a 9MM and a Repeater. Even if there are multiple weapons of the same caliber in the game, each one is appreciated by some player or other, to suit their character, and that character's outfit and appearance and whatnot. Adding more guns would be the same as adding more outfits, I wouldn't object to either. ^_^

I like using crap weapons with a mix of good wweapons for certain characters for RPing.

My jackal character carries a tire iron, lead pipe, pool cue, and many others for the fun of it.

But their never is enough weapons, trust me. It can get to the point of some weapons feeling the same, but then you just have to worry about the aesthetics.

I agree some weapons need a bit more power or benefits because the assault carbine and service rifle are weak.

OT- But could anone direct me to a site that showcases the widely used weapons for British, Chinese, French, any other nation with a well known army. Just want to see what kind of guns they used over the years, like the basic service rifle, and guns that are widely used by them. China probably just has a bunch of their own versions or bought from Russian armoury. But yeah.

Why would the British make their own tank when the US supply a horde of Sherman to them? It isn't just about money, but national integrity and security.

I think SA80 would be a excellent weapon if it have more polymers and use .280.

Reality check: Semi-automatic AK rifles are immensely popular in the US, there are lots of aftermarket and european surplus supplies available for them.

As for the Fallout universe, by the 1990s AK rifles are produced in a variety of calibers including 5.56, so by 2077 those could be more common than 7.62 ones.

Counter reality check.

The AK-47 was never produced in anything but 7.62x39. The 47. Later Kalashnikovs come in other flavors, it is true. For example the AK-101 is 5.56mm NATO. But they are not 47's. If you say AK-47, you are referring to a very specific, old, and discontinued model of rifle which was not produced in crazy amounts like other Russian small arms; that honor goes to the AKM, which replaced the '47 after a short service life because it was easier to make.

Genuine AK-47s are basically collector's items. They are not popular in the USA. What's popular and still manufactured today are modernized AKM's built by other people, frex WASR, Vector Arms, and Arsenal. People also love to take things that are not AKs and dress them up, like SKS carbines and Saiga-7.62 rifles.

So yeah.

You've had the misfortune to stumble over a pet peeve of mine. :)

If you go back to my original post you'll see that i never did say 47. I just said AK.

But while we're at pet peeves, the russians didn't call it an AK-47. If you check a real russian issue manual you'll see that it's simply referred to as the Avtomat Kalashnikova. I can send you scans of manuals released in 1952, 1957 and 1976 if you need proof.

Also, Saiga rifles are produced by Izhmash, the factory where the AK originally started its life. They are built on AKM stamped receivers, the only major difference is that the ones for the US market generally have the trigger moved to the rear of the receiver to put it into a sporting configuration. Arsenal's SGL rifles are basically saigas imported in this configuration but with more mil-spec parts and dimpled receivers, which later get converted back into the standard AK configuration.

Having lots of weapons is a good thing, since everyone has different personal preferences then hopefully they will find something that suits them. Im not too bothered about having lots of guns though as long as there is a fair amount of different varietys of weapons.
