Are There Unique Named Weapons and Armour?

Post » Mon Dec 07, 2015 4:50 am

With all the possibilities with the weapon mods, does this mean they have done away with unique named weapons and armour?

A Fallout game without something like Jack the Ripper... without something like ol' Painless... without... without... EXPERIMENTAL MIRV.... MUHAHAHAHAH....*cough *... sorry... got a bit carried away there.

So, anyone got any info here? I know info is a bit thin on the ground.... but this is important.

no news, tho honestly with both the mods and the option to name our guns whatever we like, is there really a need for Unique guns anymore?

The unique weapons had slightly better stats... and a story behind them usually.

yeah but that was in games where you couldn′t really affect the stats of the vanilla weapons anyway (and in New vegas case they only stayed relevant because they often came with all the standard guns mods pre installed) With the new mod system a player will have no problem outclassing the stats of a standard gun with said mods, just like a unique did.

They could add special effects and unique skins to them, then.

A lot of the fun of Fallout games come from exploring those irradiated mine-shafts to find a cool unique stuff. It can be argued that with the mod system it isn't necessary to have the unique named weapons in terms of gearing yourself out but I think fallout would be losing a part of itself if they were removed entirely.

They're just cool, a lot of them have rich interesting back-stories (I loved the survivalist rifle and the diary entries associated with it from FoNV's Honest Hearts) and I don't know how much time I've spent running through the Mojave wasteland holstering and drawing the mysterious magnum just so I could hear the wee Jingle! Plus it makes the completionist in me squeal with joy when I find a one-of-a-kind piece of equipment; You wouldn't get the same feeling from simply crafting a top-tier weapon.

possibly tho unless they are modable too they are kinda still gonna get overshadowed with what the player can make, out of a pure practical standpoint, we have to wait and see, but honestly the modding mechanic does add a high risk they are gone this time around.

Most likely there will be unique weapons and perhaps they can be modded (why not?), and they'll have better stats and maybe even look better/different. I would love to see a .44 Magnum like Paulson's Revolver in Fallout 4. (That revolver was flat-out fun and deadly).

They will have to include some OP unique weapons because that's the main reason why people buy the DLC.

Maybe is like skyrim. Was the unique weapons....but who cares? Crafted weapons are better.

I expect it to be like Skyrim. There will be unique weapons and armor but they won't be better than what you can make yourself by the end of the game. And will probably just have a unique look you can make yourself in the base game.

Just as long as we get a MIRV.... then I will be happy. :twirl:

Edit... oh yeah... and something like the Prototype Medic Armour. That thing always made me grin for some reason!

I imagine there will be unique weapons, with unique modifications.

Why not have the best of both worlds?

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the unique weapons had models/skins and stats/effects that are truly unique, in all sense of the word. Like how Skyrim's unique legendary weapons were. They all had a special look to them and all of them either did something special or had good stats. Think Dawnbringer and Ebony Mail.
