Are you annoyed that there was no news at E3?

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 9:33 pm

I'm glad they didn't announce. I want them to take their time with this, have it digest for a good long while, like Morrowind did. If they make it just because their fans are rushing them it will be another shoddy entry.

True.

What about the Kinect? If TESV comes out first on XBOX (if it's a this-gen console game) could it use this new fangled technology?

The source they quoted was Famitsu... who took a poll of publishers and asked if they had any surprises... Bethesda didn't answer the question, so Famitsu listed there plans as "secret"... not really convincing enough for me to believe there will be any announcement at all.

I can't wait till tomorrow though when all hope will be dashed for an E3 announcement when we find out what the second booth contains.

That article referred to in the UESP page is citing the same Famitsu article that we've all seen plenty of times and probably mistook "no comment" to mean "secret"

Didn't expect them to, and don't care.

The longer they keep it quiet, the longer they get to work on it before the publishers start to rush them. Keep it a total secret until it's huge and detailed and 90% done.

famitsu did that interview and when asked if they had something special in stock bethesda dropped the no comment line, which was misinterpreted to mean they had a secret. Check the TES:V Speculation thread, and ask there

ill have to dig up the link but there was a leaked memo from todd howard talking about the direction he wanted TESV to go. thankfully its not an MMO, however it is four player coop where you pick one of 4 characters, each representing a different class such as warrior, mage, rogue and priest (healer).

there will be a third person cover system, along with health system akin to call of duty world at war. basically if you get injured just hide behind a wall for a few seconds and you will be back to normal.

enemies will be scripted to attack you in ever increasing waves of difficulty.

magic in morrowind was far to difficult for even the most intelligent people to comprehend.........i mean seriously who can possibly switch from weapons animation to casting animation, thats just way to hard. oblivon partially addressed this by letting you cast any spell wearing full armor and carrying a shield and a weapon and chewing bubble gum at the same time.....however apparently that is not easy enough. now you can even cast while drawing a bow or the same time your swinging a sword and the best part if you are knocked down you can still cast then as well.

another addition to magic, lockpicks and healing potions and cure disease potions were made obselete by magic (seriously is anyone who plays specialized characters gonna pick lockpicking over alteration which also includes lockpicking) and why bother carrying those silly potions when you can just wave your hands and expend a tiny portion of your magicka. the game is made even more accessible to the masses by having magic repair your armor.....thats right no more need for that silly armorer skill and no more lugging around repair hammers.

armor is now all one piece sets. shortswords have been removed and the game now uses just swords, axes, hammers and bows. they all use the same skill now called weapons skill.

archery and casting spells now have aim assist.

there will only be a third person view, since its FAR to difficult to include an option for first person as well, and did i mention the cool new cover system.

lots of "cheevements" like i started the game up, i made a character, i killed my first bad guy, i killed some wildlife, i sat through the intro video, i healed myself, i hurt myself, i healed someone else, i hurt someone else, i didnt to anything except stand in one spot after the training quest for 2 or more minutes, i turned off the game, the game crashed (im betting on getting this one right away), i joined a coop game, i quit a coop game in the middle of a hard fight screwing everyone else over and lots more of those ever so important achievements.

im SO looking forward to this game now. :)

If everything you said came true, I wouldn't even think about buying that game. No amount of modding could fix that. I would just be happy to stick to MW and OB.

I really hope your joking.....if not someone deserves a good swift kick in the pants. I played TES FOR the first person aspect.
If they lose that I might have to go as far as boycotting it... :sadvaultboy:

I'm not annoyed or disappointed that there wasn't any news. Not in the least.

Why? Because I wasn't expecting any. From what I gather, Pete Hines and Nick Breckon both told us not to expect it, so I didn't.

Besides, E3 just started. Just because there wasn't any news at the Microsoft conference doesn't necessarily mean that there won't be any news at all, I wouldn't count on it though.

If it isn't in the August GI I'll probably be disappointed, unless the other game looks totally amazing.

I do think that TES V will be shown in GI though.

im hoping that they'll at least say SOMETHING about TES V sometime durin the summer, Obsidian is working on New Vegas, and its been like.... 4yrs since they finished all the expansions to Oblivion. I think Fallout and the other games can wait a little, after all, WE'VE waited all this time.

They have specifically stanted that thare was to be no news on TESV at E3 and will be more likely to be on http://news.quakecon.org/ who by the way is sponsored by Bethesada; besides E3 has not even started yet.

With that said it would be great if they released infomation on TESV and a late birthday present for me what with my birthday being only a few days before the convention starts. :cake: :hehe:

Please no MMO! For the love of Julianos NO MMO!

No worries. If an ES MMO was in the work, Bethesda Game Studios wouldn't be developing it. They've stated so many times that their team works ONLY on single player games.

Zenimax Online, however, is a different story...

You do have a point but what has Zenimax Online made, I can't think of anything off the top of my head.

I don't care when they announce it, just when its released. I have every confidence there will be another TES game but until its on the shelves available to buy I'd rather play something I already own than torture myself saying will they tell us something, won't they all the time.

Nothing - It's a sister company to Bethesda Game Studios that was only just recently started up. Goes without saying, though, that they're probably working on their first game as we speak. I'd hazard a guess that this game will be what's in the mystery booth tommorrow.
