A lot of people I know (myself included, and I'm not really ashamed to admit it) are what I like to call "blu ray elitist", meaning that every form of video you own must be in blu ray format, or you just wait or don't purchase it.
When I go to the store, and I want to buy a new film that just came out, or even an old one, I immedietely go for the Blu-ray, there is no alternative, no question. I have a 55 inch LED TV by Sharp, and it's very very nice. Watching a dvd on that thing just feels..wrong. The picture, number one, is so grainy. It's also stretched to the point of just looking bad. A blu ray, however, is so crisp and neat, it's formatted so clearly, the pictures are more vivid, and the resolution is so much better.
Now, for me, owning something means I like to take care of it. I like to have nice things. So I'll spend the 3-5 dollars more to own something on Blu-ray, and for me, there is no exception. I haven't bought a DVD format film in..5 years? I just don't. There's no point to, I have a Blu-ray player, which offers an exceptionally better experience, therefore I buy Blu-rays only.
Now, I know there are some people who claim blu ray is no different than a dvd, and I honestly laugh at that. I own the dvd and blu ray version of a few films, and watching them one after the other, the difference is staggering.
So, are YOU a blu-ray elitist?
