Are you buying/building a new rig for TES:V?

Actually same engine just revamped.

It's completely new and was made by Bethesda themselves.

I just replaced my old system over the summer. I might get a new video card, but the one I have will run FO:NV at max settings so I expect to be able to play Skyrim with it.

I'm an avid PC gamer, so I update regularly, so not really, maybe I'll upgrade my CPU/Mobo/RAM, but who knows... I just hope my new GTX 460 will be enough for high :D

I am upgrading my mobo/CPU/RAM this week but it was planned long before I knew about Skyrim. It's been ordered for 3 weeks. (Can't pay til Wednesday.)

When Skyrim comes, I'll be rocking an I7 950 (4.0Ghz+ hopefully) 6GB 1600Mhz 7-8-7-20 RAM with dual 5870s on an MSI Big Bang Xpower mobo. :user:

THANK YOU!

It's new - it's brand new - as in, not revamped, but as in a whole new engine!

Watch your heat with those duels. Though, I'm sure you already know that.

Probably not going to buy a whole new rig but I may look at a CPU+GPU upgrade closer to the release depending on what I can get my hands on and what the game's requirements get listed as.

My laptop is on it's last leg, I think it's time I built myself a new desktop. The budget is gonna be very tight, but I think I can get around a grand by the end of summer, shouldn't be too hard really. I'll do some math and see how much I have to deposit from each paycheck to get my $1000 goal.

Bought a pretty meaty machine this year, so no. I should be run it on max settings, unless the game is more demanding than Crysis :o

I will be building a new system about a month or two before release. My current system is lacking a bit as it.

No need to, I just got done purging DELL from my home (almost). i recycled a couple pieces, nothing big. My new rig can max out New Vegas with plenty of room to spare, Skyrim shouldn't be any different .

I will, those pistols get hot. :P (Sorry, could help myself.)

Seriously though, they are fine. It will be even better with the Big Bang as I can remove the sound card that is currently between them. Allowing the top one to get a bit more air. (My other PCI-E 1x slot seems to be dead so I have no choice ATM but to use the one between the cards. It "blocks" half the fan on the top GPU though and it's always 1-3C higher than the lower one.)

No - I just built one to run MGE for Morrowind :) However it is future proofed for Skyrim - until I learn what sort of modding tools are available will likely play Skyrim on the console

If I had the money I would. Oh well, playing it on my xbox is good enough.

I've already got a rig. I bought myself an HD 5870 for Christmas, but that was just to replace my old, dying HD 3870.

Yes, it's the only reason why I'm going to build one. It's the only PC game that is worth buying and before long this won't even worth it. However, I'm going to make sure that it's better than Oblivion before building one and purchasing the game. I'll probably wait until next Christmas to build it.

Anyone planning on using a gaming laptop for Skyrim?

If so, can you let me know what you're using?

Mucho's thanks

Yes.

But... I was going to anyway. My current computer will be 6+ years old by the time it does get replaced sometime in 2012, I'm assuming. And that's another thing - I'll be upgrading long after Skyrim's release, and the ability to play it will be just one factor in my hardware choices.

Depends on how good the graphics are, how much it requires... etc. I'll wait until more is revealed. No rush.
It it does require quite a lot, I will buy a new one for like 1500$.
