Are you DX11 compatible?

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 1:43 am

Im not sure if this topic has been brought up before, but my watchful eye on the general forum tells me no, so lets get down to biz.

alot of people have been... questioning the addition of DX11 into Crysis 2, but not many people realize that their computer might not be DX11 compatible.

so my word of advice to all you is to check if your computer hardware can actually run DX11 in the first place before you go griping on a game.

Yes and even before it did I was selecting DX11 games where possible (you never know when your PC is gonna break and mine did in August last year) thats why I have such an impressive selection of quality DX11 titles now.

It appears that you will still miss out on DX10 if the game doesn't have DX11.

I don't care. DX 10 is a performance hog with little to no quality benfit. I'll upgrade to DirectX 11 during my birthday in November. I ran Warhead on Enthusiant in DX9 intentionally because DX10 looked no different but got half the FPS.

(Maybe a GTS 650 Ti if it is released by then)

Right now I'm on a 3 month old $30 GT 240 GDDR5 OC.

So when you say you don't care then you are lying, or else why upgrade? Isn't it true you just don't want to miss out on anything before your birthday.

No I said I don't care about DirectX 10! I'd love to get to DirectX 11.

Speaking for myself the important thing is to use my DX11 GPU to it's fullest without having to resort to some ludicrously high resolution or frame rate to do it and I don't care if they use DX11 Open GL Open CL or a wire coat hangar to achieve this as long as it works.

I'm on a GTX460 because it was the best price/performance card at the time. DX11 is a bonus but there's nothing out there that makes DX11 really crucial at the moment. Did DX10 really bring anything major to games?

The only game I've played with tessellation was Metro 2033 - it made a slight difference to visuals at a heavy hit to the FPS. If that's what DX11 brings to the table I don't think it's worth it.

Of course that's only one example but I haven't seen any game show significant benefits for the use of DX11 - yet!

Well aren't there tech demos by nvidia? They show the power of Directx 11. Looks stunning

DX10 was pretty much an iteration of DX9, DX11 is a real evolution, just hope it gets implemented properly. Honestly, it's time developers start dumping DX9 and make the games DX10 and 11 only like DICE is doing with Battlefield 3. It's old technology/software, it's holding everyone else back, and people will really see an improvement once a game is coded specifically to those DX versions both in visuals and performance.
