I know it would but I'm hoping they at least respect the IP enough to make it the game that caters more to RPG players. They've said it there self that they've always walked the line between action adventure and RPG for the Elder Scrolls. The thing about Fallout is that none of the original games did that, so Beth may take the RPG side of things more seriously. (I hope)

I'm not antsy for Fallout 4 given Beth's current "Steam is PC gaming" phase & this is from someone who loves the fallout universe & is still playing FO3

What's wrong with Steam?

1) Not very much, since i dont anticipate it coming anytime soon
2) i have started to play fallouts through all the way from FO1(althought only when i'm bored with more recent games)

I'm gonna be playing ME3, Max Payne 3, and AC3 eventually this year. Depends on whenever they all fit into my budget. I'm also playing Skyrim sporadically, hoping to myself that all of the actual improvements about that game stay for FO4 and that all of the dumbing down does not translate to the Fallout series. I'm on a Fallout break though, waiting until New Vegas feels fresh once more and there are some new high-quality mods to keep things interesting. I think once the new version of NVR releases (A NV Strip enhancement) and the Boulder mod is released I'll reinstall and play it with reckless abandon. What I'm really most anxious for with the new Fallout is what Bethesda is doing with it. Some examples of the writing, features, setting, and the RPG elements they are or are not dumbing down for no good reason. If Skyrim is to Fallout 4 as Oblivion is to Fallout 3, I might just be waiting for the hypothetical New Vegas of Fallout 4.

the requirement of a broadband for it to work well (still not available in many places)even for the disc version

the MP-based patching scheme (if you like patching but find the latest does bad things to your game you are out of luck -at least for the moment)

if you ever have a dispute over any of your purchases you can lose access to the whole library

I know many love steam & yes it should be an option but I personally detest Beth's current mindset that the steam community are the only ones worthy of playing the PCversion

OT: As I said earlier I'm a big Fallout fan, but I'm a bigger Grand Theft Auto fan.

Praying that there is no "next gen" version of the Xbox 360. If there is, I will freaking cry. I cannot handle waiting 2 or more years for the price to drop enough for the consoles to be affordable and my PC's can't even handle FONV.

Im antsy as hell right now. Been waiting for this after i completed a playthrough of new vegas(currently on 3rd). And to pass the time and ease the stress i e played FO1,2,3, and tactics. Plus TES oblivian and skyrim. Plus oddballs like borderlands and rage. Man do inlove me an RPG

Yeah, bethesda made their first fallout and it outsold and got more awards than beforius fallouts combined. That proofs that fallout 3 was plain superior game compared to old fallouts.

Downloaded it some ages a go and deleted soon after. Just plain horrible game. I dont care if its supposted to be fallouts "ancestor". When game svcks then it plain svcks.

Eh, the originals were pretty damn good in their own right. They are just different than the new ones.

That said, they are pretty dated and also have their fair share of blemishes.

The logic of "the new games won more awards and sold a metric ton of copies and that serves as immutable proof of their superiority" is incredibly stupid. Conversely, the blind and nostalgic reverence shown the originals by some here often borders on the fanatically delusional.

It's just be nice if we could have a thread that didn't turn into a factional flame war with people stating opinion as fact.

Well its gonna svck if it comes out in 2013, which it probably will in the summer. Bethesda is working on skyrim dlcs so :\

OT- I have several other series that are holding my attention at the moment; Mass Effect, Armored Core, Prototype, Bioshock, The Darkness, and of course: Fallout 1, 2, Tactics, 3, and FNV.

Way back in the day, before you were born (1997-1998), there was a time when console game machines were cartridge games and CD games were still pretty new. Home PCs were rare and PC gaming still rarer. This was a time before we had computers in our pockets and most internet was still through the phoneline.

So you can't use sales from back then and compare them to sales of today without looking at the historical context. For games of their time, they sold very well. So you should learn your history and think in terms of historical context.
