Are you getting antsy for Fallout 4? And how are you biding

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 4:39 am

Hello all.

Like many of you, I am starting to feel depraved for our beloved game, and am tragically horrified at the notion of it possibly being 2013 before we get any news, much less the game itself. So I'm dropping in just to see if you guys are starting to get antsy for an announcement of the return of our prized game series, and what your estimation would be for an an announcement date.

Additionally, I was just curious as to how my fellow Falloutites were coping with this time in the desert.
What, from a gaming standpoint, are you doing to occupy your time? Not just other games, but from a Fallout POV..Are you reading Fallout fanfics? Have you furthered played older Fallout games? Have you taken ambitious projects like myself to create Fallout items to adorn your living spaces with? (Nuka-Colas, Weapons, Food, etc.) I, personally, have been playing Skyrim, but just don't love it like I do Fallout. I've been most everywhere and done most everything, though I still do enjoy playing and it thankfully has provided some slight relief to the "itch."

I played through on FO3, and did one of my deeper playthroughs, but unfortunately haven't been able to play NV-which I've been pining to do- because the disc broke and have not been able to replace it.

So, in short for the tl;dr'ers out there..

1) Are you starting to get antsy for some Fallout news, and when do you personally anticipate an announcement

2) How are you biding your time until we get something to chew on?

Truthfully I don't really care. Probably due to the fact that it hasn't even been announced... and a lot of my attention is directed towards Halo 4.

I also anticipate an announcement this year, and my time biding strategy is school.

Don't care too much for Halo, and there really isn't game this year that is a "must have" for me.
New Ghost Recon will be something I check out, and of course the new CoD too once it comes out, but no game I'm just dying for (which makes it a shame that new the new FO isn't coming out this year, as 2012 would've belonged exclusively to it)

As for how your biding your time, I said from a gaming and Fallout standpoint :bunny:

1. Getting antsy for news, a bit sure. But my guess is that your 2013 estimation for any new info could well be correct. Bethesda is making the DLC's for Skyrim right now (along with the unannounced game which possibly is Fallout 4) and making an announcement of Fallout could be distracting from the attention those DLC's are likely set out to seek.

It's good that they take their time, though.

2. There are other games and other activities to attend to while waiting. I'm looking forward to Risen 2, South Park the Game, and XCOM: Enemy Unknown - and I'll likely give Fallout 2 yet another run. Had a fanfic story in mind, but I don't know if I'll end up writing it. In general, though, I guess the less Fallout (and the less Bethesda games) while waiting, and the better - fresher - Fallout 4 will eventually feel (if it ends up feeling anything at all) as it'll likely follow Bethesdas general design philosophy.

Well in that case, I am playing very little battlefield that is all, I'm approaching the point where games get boring until the summer.

1. Nope. It will come when it comes.

2. I'm right now playing Starcraft 2, Sims Medieval and New Vegas with mods, I'm also watching through entire series of Penn And Teller: Bullshiz! Oh and reading One Piece.

I'm getting a little ansy.

I've been playing every videogame I own* to death (lately I've been playing through Bioshock on the hardest difficulty, I don't die as often as I thought I would and its a blast) and I am excited for a few titles this year (namely Prey 2, Dishonored, and Bioshock Infinite) but what I really think I need is Fallout (still my favorite series).

*By that I mean every computer game and PS3 game, I have games for old gaming systems like the Genesis that no longer work and so I, therefore, can't play them.

Nope, I got too many other games to play and my own game, so even if I was getting antsy I have enough to do to keep me busy.

I haven't ever played Bioshock, but am keeping a close eye on Infinite. It will be a definite must-play for me. The atmosphere, from what I gather, looks like it may be a temporary way to get a "watered"-down Fallout fix, if that makes sense.

Bioshock has similarities and differences to Fallout.

Don't go in thinking you'll get a Fallout like game because you won't.

And, because it is probably one of my favorite games of all time, I recommend buying Bioshock 1. Its just a fantastic experience and because of its age its very cheap.

I don't expect a Fallout type game, but I believe the overall atmosphere and "feel" of the game has some similarities, correct?

I'll try it out either way, that's just the impression I get.

In terms of atmosphere there isn't much in the way of similarities to fallout bar the kinda 50's vibe bioshock one was still great though.
I'm looking forward to fallout but theres no fire ants in my pants yet ,when we get a picture of the fallout 4 title it will start then when theres a teaser it gets proper antsy then E3 and i'm a wreck and drooling for fo4 thats how it will go.As for this year nothing screams must have infinite looks good but thats it.As for what i'm playing fo2 fo2 fonv skyrim oblivion ff4 are my main games at this moment.

1.) A little bit, not really though, I'd rather have them take their time on making FO4. An announcement this year would be nice though.

2.) School, mainly. In the little "free" time I have I usually end up sleeping or watching the news, so I guess that's how I pass the time. On weekends I write, play video games, mod, and read - I'm currently reading "The Kite Runner" and "The Chocolate War" and I'm writing a Fallout fan-fic.

No not really. To be honest I've got quite a few games that I want to play before Fallout 4 comes out. Skyrim being one of that lot (I have the game just haven't gotten around to playing it really yet). So I'm not really wanting for any games right now at all.

Still playing NV but d.i.d. So I restart often because of my style. (I take a 1 in Endurance.) I'm waiting for I am Alive and also playing a little Madden. Haven't picked Skyrim up since before the start of the new year. If they release some of the great looking mods that I saw at dice then maybe I'll pick it up again.

1. No, I'm rather patient when it comes to games being announced or knowing their release, even if they're something I really want to pick up on release day. I'll eat up all the info I can get, but I'm not pulling my hair or waiting to tap a vein.

2. Besides neglecting Skyrim as of late, and my latest play through of FO:NV, I'm waiting for a few games, including news of others: XCOM: Enemy Unknown, XCOM, GTA V, The Last of Us, and some others I can't think of off the top of my head.

I'm a big Fallout fan, but I'm a bigger Grand Theft Auto fan and GTA V is taking much of my anticipation focus.
