I just learned the term to "blind" a game, and I think it's always what I did. I don't like spoilers.

I'm gonna do it just like I did Oblivion: all by myself, unless I'm REALLY stuck, or there's some kind of bug that plagues my game

lol i probably wont look at any info on the game until my fifth or sixth play through. especially if there are going to be random quests and such. every play through will be slightly different and i will enjoy each ones uniqueness.... then when i think ive discovered everything i "might" look up some stuff on the game.

Yeah, atleast at first. I blinded Oblivion up until this past year. I try not to spoil quests but I like to get a good idea of where certain stuff is in the world.

I always blind these games, aside from general info released beforehand. Occasionally, I'm forced to look something up.

I hate you Dwemer Puzzle Box.

I did FO3 blind and it was fantastic. But I did the same thing with FNV and it was actually really painful and confusing to do. Like the way the world was built as opposed to Bethesda-made games made blinding very frustrating and not much fun.

So I dunno, I guess. I'll try!

I want to but the fact that game breaking bugs will most likely exist makes me think it would be wise to do otherwise.

I really wanna hit the world itself blind, but I do wanna know enough about the basic game mechanics not to build a dumb character.

After Morrowind, I was sure I knew what I was doing. Then I figured out that you could have a lot more control over your character if you picked some skills that you actually didn’t use as much.

Is there any other way? :glare:

My sons have both figured out how to do console commands and put themselves in god-mode. I don't see the point. I play to experience anpther world. One that is foreign, beautiful, and dangerous. I don't want someone to tell me about the game. It's like someone telling you who died in the Order of the Phoenix before you read it yourself (something that happened to me BTW). And yes... I'm 40 and enjoyed reading Harry Potter.

I was actually on the verge of looking it up also but I managed to talk myself out of it long enough to find it

Heh, funny thing is I think I came across it by accident but I never figured out what to do with it.

I decided to do what's best this time: find out as much information as I can before the game launches and keep up with it all, but save my time once I get the game with pure, unadvlterated experience. No UESP for me. I don't want to be worrying too much about whether I am doing the right thing, because there is no right thing to do.

However, I'll check the basic tips and warnings of any pitfalls or design mistakes before I boot it up so I'm not worried about being susceptible to having major problems. Also right as I start my game I will look up a character building guide before I finalize the build I make to be sure I am not screwing myself over. I messed up Oblivion real bad by just winging it, once I got to level 15 or so my build just fell apart. Had been getting +2 bonuses the whole time and it started to get really hard. I didn't have the heart to start again so I am just trying to endure my way through Fighter's guild and Arena at level 32 before I wrap up the main quest. :banghead:

Don't know how the character builds and leveling will work next game, but I am thinking a Breton modified nightblade, Atronach sign, magic specialization, but I don't know if that'll work or not. Will I be nerfed and unable to reach 100's on my combat OR magic skills once I reach level 50? All I know is that I want to be able to fight well when out of magicka so I'll want movement and blocking skills as well as combat skills, but I need to make sure my magic focus isn't left in the dust. :cryvaultboy:

It may have to be a while before I can get Skyrim. (Hopefully not but we'll see.) If it does have to happen I would probably end up looking at some stuff to give myself something to do until i get it but I'd try to look at as little as possible. Probably just new lore mainly.

Oh god, that puzzle box got me looking for help online too... that was the start of a long road down into Oblivion. :obliviongate:

I always do this with every Elder Scrolls game. I know I slipped a little bit on New Vegas (I found out what Mr. House really is before getting to him, which sort of ruined him for me), so I'm going to try my best not to look at info that might ruin the game for me. Whether I'm tempted to, or, in the case of New Vegas, accidentally come across a post that someone didn't bother to put in spoiler tags.

After Skyrim comes out, and before I finish the main story, my only purpose on here will be to praise the game.

i have looked up every video relating to bethesda studios on the game informer site, even stuff that has to do with the building and how todd howard got his job or how they recorded the choir in the theme song. TES is my weakness, i don't have the self discipline to not look stuff up about the game until it comes out even though that would probably be best, although i would never buy a strategy guide or anything once i have the game im on my own but until then its a different story

"Blind", as it's used in this context, can only refer to your first playthrough. It means you've never played the game before and you're not looking up hints or spoilers online, so you have no idea what will happen next.

I always do so. The only time that I make an exception is if I run into what I suspect is a bug and go confirm that it's really a bug and, if so, how to work around it. Then if there's no workaround, and it's scripting-related or otherwise something that can be modified with the editor (if there even is one), I may, especially if it's game-breaking, go look at the relevant data in the editor and see if I can't figure out what's going wrong myself and make a bugfix plugin.
