Are you going to buy the Game Informer Magazine that has Sky

Post » Thu Sep 03, 2009 6:14 am

Or you could just get the same information at the same time, or earlier, for $0.

I also think that most fans won't mind spending some pocket change to get a physical copy of the goodness that this cover promises to be.

I actually will be trying to avoid anything and everything concerning Skyrim once they release information.

I might drop in to give opinions here or there on the forums, but beyond seeing a few screenshots, I would rather know nothing about the game. I loved the feeling I got playing MW when I knew absolutely nothing about the game prior to playing it. Granted, I already know plenty about TES now so it will never be that fresh again, but I want to get as close to that feeling as I can.

The first time I walk into Balmora... whoa!
viewing the cantons of Vivec? Climbing Red Mountain?
Spoiler
Meeting Vivec?
Becoming a werewolf?

All of these things were just incredible when experienced in game for the first time, and I want to feel that way again. I knew too much about OB before playing it (granted it wasn't as good as MW anyway) and I feel that it somewhat detracted from the wonder and amazement of it all. I had already seen the emperor walk through my cell before I played the game. I already knew what white gold tower looked like. I already knew what a Dremora Lord / Daedric armor looked like. It wasn't as special when I actually got to see it all first hand.

So no, I will not be buying the GI magazine.....

...actually, maybe I'll buy it, but not read it until I've finished the game (that's like 10 months of leaving a magazine on a shelf, though, lol.)

Hell ya, it will be some of the first info on Skyrim I'd be crazy not to buy it.

BTW: Do we get to see a sneak peak of the cover art before the magazine is shipped out.

Can anybody tell me how much a GI is usually in a store?

I believe they're $6 if you go to GameStop.

Yes, but actually, when I look at Walmart or Walgreens, etc., in the magazine sections, I can never seem to find gameinformer... can anyone tell me where I need to go? Is Gamestop a better guess?

I have quit buying game magazines along time ago. I think the last one I bought was Game Informer because of Oblvion. So I think I will by January's (or is it February?) edtion just for Skyrim and that's it. So I am curious who else is like me. I guess if you have a subscribtion for it, it's moot because you will have it no matter what, but for those who don't buy regularly, will you get this issue?

Same here. I'll be buying it only for TES V SKYRIM. Gotta keep the room clutter to a minimum. Once i used to have stacks and stacks of PC GAMER and COMPUTER GAMING WORLD magazines in my old small room back in the 1990s. Plenty of fantastic info but the clutter just got to be too much. Thank goodness nowadays all that and a whole lot more can fit snuggly in one cd.

If it's on the shelves when I go into town on Jan. 15th to see Cheech and Chong I will buy it. Otherwise I will have to skip it. No extra trips to town are allowed.

In an ideal world, I'm above buying the magazine. Within a couple of months of release there is so much more information available for free. On the other hand, I might not be able to stop myself.

Does anyone know if the Game Informer published in Australia includes the same articles as the US magazine? After looking at the websites, they seem to be publishing separate issues, but I thought I'd check anyway. That will be too bad if that is the case, it would have been the first video game magazine I would really want to buy.

Thanks for any input!

I'm sure this has been asked a million times -- subscribers get the edition early January. Does that mean it will hit shelves in February?

It will hit shelves in January, but not as soon as subscribers get them. They'll be displayed in stores closer to the middle of the month.

BTW: Do we get to see a sneak peak of the cover art before the magazine is shipped out.

Yes, when Game Informer reveals the cover on January 6th on their website.

Unfortunately, my last GI issue was the Dragon Age II cover. It's my first year in college and changing the address on a magazine subscription is not worth the hassle.

I will probably read the scans of the stories somewhere on the web, then go buy the magazine when it gets put on the shelf in stores.

Hassle? All you need to do is call them up and change your address. They'll take 1-2 months to do so, and you wont get any magazines, but you aren't getting any right now anyway. And if you ask them, they'll add those 1-2 months you missed back onto your subscription, effectively extending it. Take it from me, I've changed addresses with them twice.

Thanks!

As I recall, they're about $10. It's a steal to get the subscription, as 12 issues is $15.

Yeah, but I wouldn't really care about the other issues much. Maybe if they have a Mass Effect 3 issue. Still trying to decide.

Or you could just get the same information at the same time, or earlier, for $0.

Or I could want the magazine to have because I want it. I already realize I'm going to get the information one way or another.

It's convenient that magazine pages are always the same size as scanners found in most homes :user:

Nick hasn't put the warning post up here yet, but it still applies.

Posting scans of exclusive articles, screenshots, or links to exclusive copyrighted information is not allowed and will result in warnings, posting ability suspensions, or bans.

Hey kids! It's your old pal Forum McRules, here to put the formal kibosh on magazine scans, transcripts, and links to either of them.

No magazine scans or links to scans on other sites are allowed on this forum.

Likewise, we will not tolerate anyone transcribing the article and posting that, or posting links to a transcription.

Our moderators will be keeping an eye on these and removing links, handing out warnings, suspensions, and so on. So be good, and don't do that.
