Poll on platform choice is available here: http://www.gamesas.com/forums/topic5731/

If you pre-order, depending on the retailer, you should get a Limited Edition version at no extra cost, however, this is whilst stocks last. Some places may not stock it or stock the items separately so, check with your retailer before purchasing :)

Info on the L.E. is available here: http://www.gamesas.com/news/crysis_2/crysis_2_limited_and_nano_edition

Cheers!

It says Crysis SD on my receipt but hopefully I wasn't too late, I mean I reserved it at a small unknown Gamestop plus it might be the case with Red Dead Redemption where I got the Limited Edition but it didn't come out on the receipt.

Oh and Xbox!

PC, absolutely and definitely. Damn, saw some 360 footage the other day (real footage, not trailer) and wow, just wow (and not in a good way, it looks like crysis 1 on medium at best). I'm going to enjoy crysis the way it's meant to be played:

Thats great! I think it looks great and couldnt look better. Even most of the Multiplayer Test footage looked better then Crysis in some ways. And that was just Alpha.

In this economy the last thing I would buy is a rig that costs a 1000 dollars just to play Crysis 2 on Very High, all the games I play are either TF2 or Garrys Mod. Minecraft occasionally.

You wouldn't need to spend $1000, about $550 would do, $600 if you want to be sure :)

Also, it really doesn't look better than crysis in any ways :) If you believe that, you've never played crysis very high :D

Oh it doesnt but saying it doesnt reach Crysis on Medium is a little low.

Also I have a rig that I made for around 700 dollars and yet most of you guys here shot it down as something that couldnt run Crysis 2 on even Medium.

And BTW the rig has a DX11 GPU.

which gpu is that? (and btw, 'most guys' know very little about most gpu's, not a slight on them, as the market is quite complicated with the cross-over between generations ect :D) The system's which i could build for $550 involve a gts450 (equivalent to a hd5770), which should run crysis 2 at least high/very high at decent resolutions like 1680x1050. For $700 i'd be hitting sli'd gtx460 territory and be blitzing crysis 2 :)

It does not reach the original Crysis on medium... The difference in draw disatance and texture resolution is HUGE between the two platforms, even Crysis only on medium is better than Crysis 2 on the console.

But in Crysis 2 you have more stuff to render, your not rendering trees, huts, and enemies. Your rending buildings, specifics in buildings, lighting effects, and various enemies and interactive objects.

Well no wonder. That video card was not built with gaming in mind at all... the Radeon 5770 is the lowest video card that is acceptable for gaming in DX11.

Well. The rig I was building would of made it from a 600 dollar rig, to a 800 to 900 dollar rig because I needed to rise the Motherboard and PSU up.

Not exactly sure how you managed to only get a 5670 into a $700 budget (as stated before i can SLi 2 gtx460's for that price), but ah well. Since the hd4670 can do crysis high at 1440x900, no AA @ around 30fps, you should do crysis 2 high at that resolution too :)

Wtf? Crysis 2 does not look worse then Crysis on Medium. You haven't noticed the sunrays, the shaders and effects on the console version. They're equal to Crysis on very high on PC, and that's one of the biggest technological achievement Crytek can be proud of. What makes medium computers explode, a console can render witha stable framerate. The textures are the only problem, but that doesn't make a game. For me, S.T.A.L.K.E.R can have as much high resolution textures as there are, the rest still looks aweful to me. You have to play the game itself to make a judgement about the graphics. For example, I haven't noticed that Crysis lacks a Texture filter, until I buyed it. On longer distances, textures look really blurry

Back to topic: Although I'm buying it for PC, I'll plug it in my TV and play with gamepad for MAXIMUM COMFORT with MAXIMUM GRAPHICS aaaaaaand in MAXIMUM 3D! ;) I'm even thinking of buying it for Xbox, too. I played the test and it actually made a lot of fun. But I had the same feeling Bad Company 2. Played the Xbox Demo, made fun. Buyed and played PC game, made less fun. But that's more or less a port issue.

Also, justnameless, they may have made computers explode in 2007, but if consoles run it, those computers will run it better too. Consoles couldn't run crysis 1, consoles don't upgrade. Therefore the algorhythms for the effects are more efficient, so PC's will see such effects.

Additionally, the effects i've seen look like medium quality. Sunshafts were never that demanding (they were a dx10 gimmick more than anything), the depth of field is atrocious and the motion blur is meh, the shadows are laggy (10-12fps tops) and overall it's crysis at medium maybe pushing high shaders, but very low textures.

Optimization friend.

Crysis 2 is a perfect setting for consoles. Yes your rendering more in a specific scene but at the same time, if the game was more like Crysis, the Console game would look not that great.

That was an example I had with Bad Company 2. I only FEAR that I will be the same first I play the Crysis 2 multiplayer.

About the graphics, you can really tell ONLY if you layed hands on the game. I was a happy one to get a key for the test, but still it was only pre-alpha stage. We would need a Demo or some sort of Gameplay action to see the actual, release-candidate version of the game, but from what I played, it looks awesome.

I've highlighted the two statements which agree :) The statement was made to say that suddenly consoles can't be better than machines twice as power (2007 midrange), but it is, in fact, engine wide optimizations that these midrange PC's will also benefit from. The consoles will still look worse than computers that could run crysis 1 on medium, unless they absolutely trash the PC part of the cryengine :p
