Are you a gun owner?

Post » Fri Jun 18, 2010 5:42 am

Ok so I was just wondering what people would put really. I am sure there are some people here that are hypocritical and believe that this right should be taken away but that the media should be able to report anything and everything even if it gets people killed and such. Just as I am sure there are people here that hunt or just go out to shoot and have fun by themselves or with friends and family.

Formerly, my godawful neighborhood don't understand the meaning of self-defence and gun rights.

I dont see any reason why a normal everyday person would need a gun. A farmer who has to worry about wolves running off with livestock, yeah, but anyone else....

This poll should be multiple choice, I would choose 1 & 4

Yeah, I have two members of the family in the military and several others that enjoy hunting. I personally own a Tokarev pistol which was gifted to me by my father on my 18th birthday.

I would like to get a pistol eventually, just for the sake of self defense, but I don't foresee me actually buying one any time soon. My area is relatively safe if you're smart about where not to go and at what times of the day not to go. I may just wind up getting a pistol taser as, aside from looking damn cool, they're a bit less taboo.

I currently own:

Remington 887 NitroMag
Ithaca M37 Featherweight

And as of last week, I don't know if this counts, but a Bowtech Soldier! Working on my marksmanship!

Around here people mostly have guns for hunting, so no. Also living in a small town of only ~10.000 people so it's not especially dangerous either.

Besides they're expensive and require a license and the process has been made more complicated since the school shootings, so not worth the trouble. Besides i couldn't get rail gun anyway, much less aliens to shoot it at, so i'll stick to FPS' :hehe:

Be very careful if you use it for defence.

The only guns you can get here in Iceland are hunting rifles and shotguns. I have neither and I have nothing against guns used in hunting. I am however against handguns and automatic weapons.

Say's the guy with a handgun-toting monkey in his avatar. :P

Yeah, I've never fired, or even loaded mine. It's more a symbolic thing than anything else.

You live in a safe? Cool.

On topic, I don't own a gun because I am not old enough, but I plan on owning many guns when I am old enough and am licensed.

"Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun."
-Mao Zedung

I'm pretty sure that this topic is going to get locked since gun ownership is both political (depending on where you live) as well as highly controversial.

I'm a proud gun owner, for the record.

In my country getting a gun is hard and shooting someone, even in self-defence, can make you face severe consequences. Applies to police too, they can't just shoot an escaping suspect, they need to have serious reason.

If you have even the slightest inkling of thinking of using it for self defense(Or that you might do so should the situation arise), go out and practice with it and get used to it and keep it maintained. Poor handling and lack of experience causes a lot of gun related accidents.

Own a 12 gauge for hunting, thats about it, but my dad has a gun cabinet full of them, and my wife's dad has about $70,000 in guns(or more, that's actually low-balling it, he buys a new gun every other week or so). Best friend owns about 10k in guns, and his dad owns about 20-30k. Yeah, living near/in a small rural town = 90% of people own guns and/or hunt. Have 3 gun shops in town + an archery range/store.

I have a gun and I go shooting often. The county I live in is very conservative, and nobody dares to even submit anti-gun legislation. Our county has the highest gun ownership, and also is the safest county in my state :D

Me neither. I just live in a country where unless you're a farmer or you hunt as a hobby you simply don't have a gun...

Well, I don't carry it around at all. But I'll still get myself better acquainted with it this summer, hopefully. I hope never even have to take it out though.
